Don't know whether it's anything to go by but I've had a facelift 1.6 HDi C5 hatchback from new since 2005 which has done 110K miles. The DMF failed at about 106K but apart from that I've had no problems. It has passed all MOTs but I do change oil and filters at c. 12K service intervals (always use recommended oil) and, as Paul says, allow the engine to idle for 20 - 30 secs before driving off (slowly as I live in a dvelopment with speed restriction!). Also, let the engine idle for a few seconds before switchin off. I occasionally get a "Risk of particle filter blocking" message but, so far, haven't refilled the Eolys tank (not sure why!) as it usually goes away with a bit of wellie. However, the 1.6 might be a bit underpowered for the Tourer so get the 2l. HDi.

C5 2.0 Hdi Clutch And Flywheel Replacement.
MikeLane replied to adpace8's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
I understand what you're saying Paul but Valeo say they've fitted extra long springs to the clutch plate to absorb the torque so... I guess I'll have to wait and hopefully not see. -

C5 2.0 Hdi Clutch And Flywheel Replacement.
MikeLane replied to adpace8's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
I checked with Valeo before fitting the solid flywheel and I now have a 1,000,000 mile guarantee! https://www.valeoservice.co.uk/en/node/5459 (I might just try but I've another 884,000 miles to go!) -

Don't worry Paul. We'll soon be out of the EU so we can ignore these standards. -
When I bought my 2005 C5 from new it had several problems (rear wiper inoperative, loose trim) but the most serious was that the aux. belt was too tight. This resulted in the tensioner and bearings and the Alternator all needed to be replaced within 4 months. About 5 months ago it started "chattering" and this turned out to be the DMF - so .......

C5 2.0 Hdi Clutch And Flywheel Replacement.
MikeLane replied to adpace8's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Hi there - I've had the Valeo solid (non-DMF) conversion fitted and it seems much noisier (and vibrates more) at lowish revs than the DMF. Apart from that here's hoping! -
C5 2.0 Hdi Clutch And Flywheel Replacement.

If it's 2004 - 2008 (Facelift) isn't it fitted with a DMF (Flywheel and integral clutch)? -
Broken Rear Washer Pipe On C5 Tourer

(I'm so glad I didn't buy that lovely looking X7 but stuck to my 11 year old Facelift!) -
Apparently it's now owned by a conglomerate in Singapore and the CVC Group so it's probably BREXIT that's caused the increase!

How long have you had this car (I notice the question about relocking) ? The car is probably finding the correct ride height after you've stopped. It does the same after you unlock and sit in the seat. I don't think you need to have put the key in the ignition in this case. Don't worry about it.
-
Don't know why it does it when you open and close the tailgate but, if the car is unlocked and a door isn't opened withing 10 - 15 seconds the car relocks itself.

A few months ago I fitted a pair og Michelin Cross Climate tyres to the front of my C5 and they seem fine so far. I was a bit worried as they only come in "reinforced" but I was assured that Citroen had approved them. (However, I'm still waiting for a reply from Citroen!)

This might have already been covered but.... My O/S indicator bulb failed (just as I started a 150 mile drive!) but I had a replacement. To replace it the cover over the LDS tank has to be removed and the bulb is in a bulbholder. The instructions are "turn the bulbholder (anticlockwise) and pull it out" (or words to that effect). This is just possble if one has small hands but a pair of pliers might be useful. I got the holder out using its lugs and replaced the bulb but, on re-locating the holder into the lamp and turning it clockwise it locked in place but wouldn't light. Next day (at home) I removed it again and realised that the lampholder will fit in three positions but only one will make contact with the supply. So - before removing the lampholder it's worth marking the top lug with something (paint if you have time to let it dry or a bit of sticky tape) so it can be replaced with the correct orientation.

I only have a brochure but it shows a strip of silver trim across the bumper just below the boot lid bottom lip.

C5 Mk2 1.6Hdi Estate 2007 Soft Ride: Sphere Dampers Gone?
MikeLane replied to Smerflet's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
I forgot to ask, which cars have you owned before? Generally, if they were German, the ride would be much stiffer so your C5 ride might be "normal". Isn't the damping provided by compressing the nitrogen in the "dry side" of the sphere's membrane? -
What year/Mark is it ?

Haven't had this problem. Can you press the red button down into the housing?
-
Don't think so. It's there to try to ensure that you've enough left in the battery to start the car.

Two Faults In Six Days - Trip Computer Reset And Rusted Rear Discs
MikeLane replied to KeithE's topic in C5 - Technical
Hi Paul - re: "The dealer service manager gave some b**t about a pressure reducing valve limiting braking effort at the back" This was certainly true on my BXs and Xantia. The rear brakes only operated when braking quite hard or the car was heavily loaded so the disks tended to rust (and pistons seize). I had to change the rear disks a couple of times in 130Kmiles on my first BX and make sure the pistons weren't seized before MOTs. -
Sounds strange to me. Is this the only bulb to blow? If so it might be worth swapping it with the working bulb from the driver's side. If this blows then I think it's a voltage supply problem to the N/S bulb and then you may need an auto electrician to check why the voltage to this connector is too high. If it doesn't then the bulbs you are using as replacements are duff and you'll need to get new ones from a Citroen garage to be sure they're correct. When driving in France one needs to carry replacement bulbs ( as well as high vis jackets etc., etc.....). Best of luck

Hi there and welcome to the forum. "(why jumpy, anybody know?)" - just another name conjured up by Citroen's (or PSA's) marketing department I suppose! Like the Renault Kangoo - what's that all about? And the newish Cactus! Just enjoy it.

If the car ran for 5 miles before cutting out it sounds (to me) as though one of the connectors to the parts you removed has rattled loose. Make sure they're all well pushed home, then do the full BSI reset. Otherwise.......
