The RAC Foundation Tyre Pressure Fact File: 20 per cent under-inflation can increase tyre wear by 25 per cent 20 per cent under-inflation can reduce tyre life by 30 per cent 20 per cent under inflation can reduce fuel economy by three per cent 10% of cars are running on illegal tyres (under 1.6mm tread) 90% of tyres are incorrectly inflated Tyre manufacturers estimate that three quarters of accidents caused by “blowouts” are down to incorrect pressures Under-inflated tyres cause a reduction in the overall control of the vehicle and increased braking distances Over–inflated tyres cause poor vehicle handling, reduced stability in braking, cornering and reduced grip Drivers should check their tyres at least once a month

New C8 Sx 2.0 Hdi, Alarm Questions.

A pedantic Citroen Owner......never met one of them :P Yes its the one you access by opening the door. -
I suggest you talk to your local dealer, and arrange to get it looked at. There are various updates that have come out in relation to gearbox selection software and engine management software that are designed to improve the driveability of the vehicle......it maybe that yours is affected by these. When you take your car in make sure you take all your keys and the confidential code for the vehice so that they can access the computers Good luck

The Spark plug type tyre valve you are talking about is the wheel pressure sensor that tells the car if you have lost pressure. Each sensor emits a signal and the car works out which axle its fitted too. The car can only have 4 sensors programmed to it to my knowledge, so if you were to have one fitted to a spare you would have to get it programmed if you were to keep it on an axle permanently. If you use the alloy wheel with a standard valve it will come up with a message on the display indicating check your tyre pressure on that wheel. Yeas you can get the valve from your sitroen dealer, they would also need to program it for you. Word of warning: If you know you have this type of valve fitted, make sure you tell any tyre fitters before they rip the valve out...i think the're about £60.

Volumetric protection Volumetric protection detects all intrusions into the passenger compartment by analysing movement or variation in air volume using ultrasonic volumetric sensors . Volumetric protection of the passenger compartment is operational 45 seconds after the alarm is armed . Deactivation : volumetric protection Voluntary deactivation Volumetric protection can be deactivated voluntarily after the ignition has been switched off by pressing the volumetric alarm button for more than one second . Deactivation is not taken into account and the LED extinguishes if the alarm is not armed within 5 minutes . The deactivation request is confirmed by the LED illuminating permanently (the LED flashes as soon as the alarm is armed) . Automatic deactivation Volumetric protection is deactivated automatically in one of the following cases : After being triggered 10 times in the same arming period When the sunroof is open The volumetric button is in the end of the dash facing the door -
To my knowledge unless you have sat nav on the vehicle the cable will plug in the back of the radio. The socket it uses is the one for a multiplay CD unit which isnt activated as standard. Your local dealer will have to 'enable this function' using their diagnostic equipment. I know peugeot were marketting an adapter, but citroen as yet have still to provide one. As blaupunkt are the radio manufacturer, might be worth looking at this Ipod lead Good luck

They all tend to do it, its caused by the cut of the gears.......nothing to worry about, its just a characteristic noise. Incidently, earlier models didnt do it, they had different gears

Its the price you pay for technology.......in a few years, like everything else it will come down in price.......or become obselete.

Is this a problem that has recently occured......have you owned it long? Its worth making sure that the clutch pedal height is correct and that the pedal is able to make full travel to the carpet. If you have mats in the car try removing them to see if it makes a difference. Also make sure the seat is adjusted correctly so you can push it all the way down.......yes i know it sounds stupid, but some people just get in and drive! When you took it to your dealer did they say they couldnt fault it ?.....has it had any gearbox repairs?.....did they check the gearbox oil level? If it was my car and i wasnt happy about it i would check all external conditions as i mentoned above, drain the gear oil and check for swarf/contamination (shiny bits of metal), replace it with fresh oil to correct level and then try it. If still not happy ask myself how often it happens and whether i think i would see the problem when i strip the box.....i'm a technician. If i dont feel there will be a visible fault i would drive it and let it develop.

Why do you think it has gone?.....is it noisy/rattling, or has it a running problem?

Steering Wheel Controls For Stereo
kfk replied to rod1296's topic in Questions about the Citroen Xantia
In the rear of the radio you should have the following connections: 8 way black connector (with 4 wires in) powers supplies and earth 8 way white connector - all your speaker connections 10 way black connector - this is the connector for the steering wheel 13 way black connector - if there its used for multiplay cd player Early Xantias had different radio units in to the later facelift models.....if you use an early radio in a facelift model the steering controls wont work. Hope some of that helps you -
Does that mean i will be seeing you soon ....... must be at least 3 weeks :D

Surely it would be better to purchase the manual if you are planning on doing work of this kind yourself. There's nothing worse than finding that someone hasnt given enough/correct information and find your lacking tools/time as a consequence. A picture can paint a thousand words....and looking at the tensioner adjustment its worth the pictures.

Only options available are Manual Air con and Pearlescent paint......no sunroof and it wont have limited slip diff

You need a relay.........unless you want to do permenant damage to the main computor in your car.......I know because i work for a main dealer!

The noise you are refering to is probably the camshaft variable valve timing unit......theyonly have it on the hpi Its fitted on the inlet cam and can be accessed under the timing belt cover once the belt has been removed. It requires oil pressure to control it, however inside it it has a couple of seals that can leak and allow it to rattle and make it sound like a diesel. Rather than start taking it apart you might want to drop by your local dealer and let them have a listen......if it is this component that has failed they will recognise the sound and advise you accordingly

You need the Z21 electrical kit as listed on Witter Suggest you double check with them first.
