The battery has arrived at 5.30pm and its to dark to put it on, so hoping for a dry day in the morning. I did find in my shed my battery tester, I tested the old one, it said 25% charge, new one 75% to 100%. The price of the battery was £62.99 free delivery and 3 years warranty.

Changing battery because I tried to start car this morning (very iced up car) and it turned over but got progressively slower, my wife that drove it the day before said it took 2 attempts to start. It has always been a very good starter in the past but now the battery is as good as dead and don't have a charger I plumped for a new battery. Hoping this is all that it needs.

I have taken the battery off after finding the right spanner and ordered a new battery, next day delivery, price £64. I was amazed how easy it was, 2 clips to release the terminals, that's new, used to have to undo a nut and bolt, then one nut, half a turn to release the battery and this had 2 handles to lift it out. Thanks for the help, keeping fingers cross it will be that easy to put the new one in. Citroen C5 estate 2001 diesel 2000cc go's like the wind....

Is it easy to change the battery, I ask because of the computer and radio, do I just take the 2 terminals off and connect the new battery.

I have had a look in the manual and it said something like you can tow a automatic at a reduced speed for short distances. What is a short distance? I hope I will never have to do this and I am in the AA.

That what I use, a broom handle, only problem is it roles around a bit in the boot. A lot cheaper than new struts.
-
Thanks all for the tips but thinking do I need to open that window. As for the tail gate I have a temp fix, a length of wood that sits on the rear bumper and top of the tail gate, more like a prop. Or better still, get my wife to unload the boot, (only joking). Do all have a merry Christmas and give your cars a pat from me. PS. the car is named Winnie, not me. Reg and Pat

That sounds simple, so of I go and found like a button on the base of the wiper body, I pushed it then push and pulled, then pushed and twisted but nothing. As the car is 13 years old it may have never been opened, I now have given up as don't wont to brake anything.

2001 estate rear tailgate window opening instructions. As my tailgate or rear door seems to come down on my head as the struts are a bit week I was thinking, to get the shopping out of the back why don't I open the tailgate window. Now I have to admit that I have never opened or tried to open the window, in fact I haven't a clue on how I do this. Is there a button or a catch to open it, or do i let the wife try first. Hoping you will say there is a catch you press and it will pop open, (no nothing is that simple). I have been thinking, if I have the blind some times called the rear shelf pulled closed, can I still open this from the open window. Hope you can understand my rambling, specially the last line, sorry. Reggie

Thanks for answering my silly question, I had a BX many years ago, great car. Merry Christmas Reggie.

I have a silly question. If you higher the suspension with the button then block one wheel then lower the suspension can you change the wheel.

It was all clear this morning so keeping my fingers cross. I did feel the carpets and seemed dry, roll on spring time. Thanks for your help. Merry Christmas to all Citroen lovers.

I am hoping and it looks like condensation on the window, I have wiped the screen with kitchen roll this evening, the weather man says it is going to rain to night so wont freeze. Yet another early start in the morning, if anyone retires don't tell your relatives. I will check my carpets later in the day. Thanks for help. Reggie

My windscreen freezes up in side as I leave my car out side at night, said this will be no problem as I'm retired now and don't need to go anywhere to early, so what happens, 3 mornings I had to go out at 7am. Do all cars freeze up in side or is it just my one, yes I have a cover but forget to put it on. Possible reasons for it is the garage valeted it with a hose pipe and left the window open for 4 days in the rain but that was over a month ago.

Thanks for the advise, I did see a screw cap on the drivers side, will investigate more tomorrow. I seem to have 2 large containers of anti freeze in my shed so will take your advise, I'm just a bit paranoid since having to give up my garage. Thanks again, Reg

I was going to top up my antifreeze and I have a gismo that test it, just open the rad filler dip it in, sounds simple. I lift up the bonnet and look for the rad cap, 10 min's later, still looking for the filler cap. Is there a rad filler cap or am I going bonkers. Car is 2001 2lt diesel estate.

2001 C5 estate. When I use the rear wiper for a quick wipe then turn it off, it keeps going for a few wipes then stop's in the middle of the window, it takes about 3 to 4 attemps before it returns to the park position. Is this normal?
-
I love my C5 so much I have brought it a cover for the winter nights, just got to cut a small hole in the top back for the Ariel to pop through.

Thanks all, it is much clearer now. Will have to have a re-think. Thanks again Reg

Many years ago I had a Audi 1800, estate automatic, and I pulled a Swift challenger 5 berth caravan but alas the gearbox packed up and I had to move on to a jeep. Then I sold the van, but now am toying with getting a caravan again but have got to convince the wife. I would like a twin axel but am put off with the Audi gearbox going. Now this is just a idea so far but second hand ones are dirt cheep this time of year. Would my car (2001 2000 cc, automatic estate) be man another to pull it and would this be a strain on the gearbox. This is only a idea so far so just opinions so far, not to technical will do. Thanks Reg

It has been about a week since I sprayed WD40 in the door lock and it looks like it worked. May use a bit on my joints. I have another question, will put it in on a separate post. Reg

Was I dreaming this. Many moons ago I had a small Citroen diesel enging when starting it I had to wait till a lamp went out then after starting had to wait again for it to rise.
-
I have found the resister pack on ebay, about £15 but will have to wait, got to fix the wife's oven first. Thanks Reg

The key opens the door ok but now have brought some WD40 and sprayed the lock last night plus some more this morning. Hoping this will do the trick. Thanks all Reg

It seems that my switch on the heater blower is not to good, the first 2 positions the fan don't work but the third and last work great. Now I can live with this unless there is an easy fix.
