Do you think it could be the damp weather as first thing in the morning it plays up then later in the day if not raining it is ok. I have found when it happens I use the key to unlock the door. May get a cheap car cover and a tin of WD40, do you think this would help? Reg PS. the good news is my wife is now driving after a short break, or two in her arm.

Thinking about it I think it may have something to do with the way I press the key fob, I remember when it plays up is when I use my left hand. My left hand has no feeling in the fingers, this is not bad as three years ago I was 75% paralysed but have received an operation now on my spine, sorry to bore you all with that. My hand is getting better with the more I use it and for a long time did not think I would ever walk again let alone drive a car. I can live with a door not letting me in from time to time, its me that needs the WD40... Thanks Reg

It has happened about 4 times so far with one or two weeks in between it happening. I get out of the car, press the key fob to lock the doors, return, press the open door fob button lights flash but the drivers door is locked. All the other doors are unlocked, I press again to lock then press open but nothing. I have to go round to the passenger side reach across and open the drivers door, run round and get in. Any idea's. They say they fitted a new regulator at £68. The rest was labour and vat. Oh must not forget they washed the car, that was not dirty. I have not checked the window as it is raining, will wait till the morning. I'd like to make them wait 3 days for there money but my wife says I have to pay them tomorrow. Reg

At last I have my car. I phoned them at 1pm to day, they said, part has not arrived yet, I told them if the car is not fixed to day I will be collecting it as you have had it 3 days. They phoned me at 2.30pm and said they have the part and they are working on it. Garage phoned my wife at 3.30 and said, just finishing the window and they will deliver the car to us with £20 off our next MOT. We phoned again at 6pm and said were is our car? There answer was we are just washing it. 6.30 the car was delivered. I will not be using them again and most defiantly not taking the offer of a MOT. Reg

Garage phoned me at 5pm today, said they had received the wrong part so will not be ready till tomorrow, that will be 3 days to fix a window. I have a sneaky suspicion they have not done anything just fobbing me off. I only picked this garage as it is a Citroen agent and is 10 minuets walk from me. Reg PS. still to wet (raining) to take a photo of old car. Reg PPS. hay how did you put that photo on?
-
How would you ever restore a classic like that?! Easy, just need loads of money. The car I have seen has no back window and on the drivers side there is green mould, the car has not been covered up and is open to all weathers. If ever it stops raining I will take my camera with me and try to put a picture on this site, oh the car is white.

I have received a phone call from the garage and he tells me it is the regulator and will need a new part, now for the price, for part and labour plus v.a.t. £220, I told him to go ahead but I will not pay any more than the quote, he agreed, so the car will be spending the night there as he can not get the part till Tuesday. In my younger days I would have gone to my local scrap yard and got the part for a fiver but now age and a small disability in my hands hold me back. If it is guaranteed for a X amount of time I think it is money well spent but please god no more bits breaking this year or I will have to cancel my daughters wedding, only joking. Reg PS. I will be taking a photo of an old Citroen that may interest you all, it has been to my knowledge in the back garden for 15 + years, rusting away. Just got to work out how to put pictures on. I think the car was called safari, it was big.

On both switches I can hear the motor going and the glass has dropped right down, so hoping it will be an easy fix. The car is in my local garage now so fingers crossed. Reg

I was sitting in my car with my dog on the back seat when my friend came up to the passenger side, I lowered the window and my dog seeing the friend jumped in the front seat and put his paws on the window as it did the last inch down. After a chat I put the window up but no joy, pressed again but no window. Later I did attempted to take the side panel off but soon gave up. The car is now booked in at my local garage, wish me luck, I have put buy £200 hope that will cover the cost, what do you think. I will let you know.... Reg

On the receipt the water pump was changed as well, I have had two cars go with cambelt's, my escort out side a scrap yard and a lovely Rover, both I had to scrap. Thanks for the help Reg

Just a small question, I have a receipt for camshaft belt change 2012 and was wondering how long on average they last that's if I do under 10,000 a year. Reg

I can't believe it, diesel at Sainsbury's at 128.99, was 134.99, so I filled up.

Dash Board Lights As In Dip Main Beam
winnie replied to winnie's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
I have had a second look at the light stalk, I can turn on the dip lights but next to that on the same stalk is a second twist switch that turns on a second pair of lights. I will have to investigate more as I was only looking at the reflection in the car in front. -
The outcome to my emergence phone. I got a payg sim from Asda 50p put £10 on the card, put the AA phone number in contacts and my two girls, charged the phone over night then put in the compartment in the boot. I did turn it off as well, I will check the charge every week or two. The suggestion to put in the glove compartment was good but it seems to be full of wife's cloves, tissues, satnav, make up,torch, kitchen sink. PS, Hubbie now driving and cooking, wife has broke her arm.
-
I do not do much if any night driving but last night I had to take my sister in law home, I turned the light stalk to the dip lights showed on the dash but there was two on, one on the top of the other, lights seem to be ok so drove her home, about 3 miles, pulled in to her driveway and switched off my lights, said good night then started the car and put on my lights and only one dash light this time but lights still seem to be ok. I had to drive both ways down a dark lane and it seemed to be no different in both ways. Any idea what I have done? PS. I am Winnie's husband, I do not drive much now as I had a spine operation some time back and it has mucked up my left hand a bit but my wife has managed to brake her arm so I am back at the wheel, You have been warned, only joking it just takes me longer to take the hand break off.

The glove box seems the right choice, I have also ordered a in car charger so can charge say once a week, plus have also ordered a holder but can use this with my satnav or phone. The one fear is I have had to get a new sim as I did not wont to use my one, I have opted for giffgaff payg , will let you know if this was a big mistake or not. Thanks for the help. PS. The old phone was put in a draw for about 6 months (switched off) and when I fired it up it was still fully charged, don't ask me what make it is as it has no name on it, it was an offer in the newspaper for £40, why I do not use it is it is so loud and there is no way to turn the sound down.
-
I have a spare payg phone and was thinking I could put the phone in the small compartment in the rear of my estate and plug it in to the 12v power plug/socket at the rear. It would only be for emergence's like calling the AA or help from my girls, it will have a new phone number, we are always forgetting our phones. Do you think this would work?
-
I am thinking of buying some reversing sensors, do I take the main electric feed from the reversing light and is it easy to get to it. I did fit one on a jeep some years ago but can not think for the life of me how I did the 12v feed.

Thanks I will remember the advise, I wash the car with a wax in the water but nearer the bad weather will wax properly. I just can't believe what a nice car it is, so comfortable to drive. Thanks again for all the help.

I have always put my car in to a garage at night but with my estate it will not fit, as I rent the garage at £32 per month I gave it up and now park the car out side in the service road. I was thinking of getting a cover for the winter months but what about the aerial that sticks up at the rear, would this get damaged after time with keep putting the cover on? As I am retired and only on the odd days would need to drive the car early in the morning, do I need a cover as it is a diesel engine or is this irrelevant? Do you leave your car out side in the winter? I will add, we only use the car about every other day so not in demand like when I was a worker and used my car to get to work. Would like your thoughts on my little problem. Thanks all....

Thanks all for the reply's, as my old C5 that is getting on in years I will continue with Supermarket fuel. I must admit it made good reading, you post. Thanks again....

I buy my diesel from a well known supermarket and collect points but a friend said that there diesel had no additives to protect the engine and should buy from a proper garage like, shell etc. Is there any truth in this as I have been filling up from mainly the same supermarket pumps for years.

It's done, thanks coastline taxis for the help. Dead easy when you know how, just got to check the light to night as the sun is so bright can not tell if all are ok, they should be as I used the same bulb and fitting.
