I have changed the MAF Meter and it gives me a new fault code p0401 along with other two.
-
I couldn't see any sensor inside the air MAF meter. i thought it would be a good idea to brush out dusts from those net inside the MAF meter. are those not just nets(filter) or they are sensors? if they are sensors then i might have damaged them.
-
its plugged in...I even plugged out and plugged in several times to see if loose connection causing it..but fault codes keep coming back...can it be mass flow meter faulty? I took the whole box out and also brushed clean the meter and everywhere.

Turbo Solenoid Valve For Citroen C4 1.6Hdi - P0238
arak81 replied to arak81's topic in C4 - Technical
Aah God...I thought problem was fixed (P0238), but alas its not. Still i get this fault code but less frequent. ...I think its somehow related with injector as i know one of my injector is not working and its out of the slot. i will not bother with it anymore as performance wise there is no problem with it. -
Hand Brake off!!! really?

Fault code P1351 is still exist though. i mean all the fault codes were erased but this one is keep coming back although engine light is not on. I hope this one is not related with P0238 and it will not bring it back. -
Turbo Solenoid Valve For Citroen C4 1.6Hdi - P0238

Finally garage 3 has sorted this problem (fault code P0238) out. :) I left the car with him to check the wiring. he said there was a short of wiring and it was touching something which throws the fault code to the dash. he drove quite a while. i drove and tried many ways to bring the fault code back, but it didn't come back. finger crossed its sorted. Now i have to go to motorway for a long journey to see if its really gone or not. but so far i am very happy.. this man is genius.. I have just wasted money to buy Solenoid valve. :( -
Turbo Solenoid Valve For Citroen C4 1.6Hdi - P0238

Todays outcome of the mission to garages: Garage no 1: visually checked everything and used their diagnostic tool to do diagnostic which brought the same code as i had P0238 and they came to the decision that Solenoid Valve is faulty.. i told them I have changed couple of them but nothing changed...he then said buy from the main dealer. sometimes car's ecu doesn't recognise after market electric part. Garage no 2: The guy also put the car on the ramp and visually inspected underneath and didn't find any wrong. As i explained him that the fault code became worse since the last mechanic put the new solenoid valve. then he disconnected the electric cable from the solenoid and started the car..there was no engine light..REMEMBER SOLENOID VALVE WAS NOT CONNECTED. Well, then he said problem is not with solenoid valve...and not with any hose or cable as the car runs with no power loss. So its wiring problem and he has no expertise skills for this electrical job. Garage no 3: Man put his computer and i have seen it was Lexia diagnostic program...he checked everything..the air intake flow..solenoid valve's pressure etc and he said that everything is working fine including turbo. But i noticed, Injector was not responding for the diagnostic he tried few times to get the test result for injector but it came with question mark next to injector. he didn't tell me anything about injector though. but finally he said wiring is the problem as lexia saying.....something about short of circui.. i can't recall. he asked me to leave the car tomorrow morning with him and he will be able to test wiring one by one . finger crossed this man will sort this problem out and by the way, he said he was a peugeot man. -

I am fade up now..problem one after another. ..i have just sorted clutch kit and flywheel...now fault code p1351 and p0238. .p0238 was very intermittent problem before. now within five minutes of driving or if i press accelerator to hard engine light on straight away. mechanic said he checked the cable and hoses and they seem all right and he suggested TURBO CLEANING.. what else it could be! Gosh....I feel like i bite the bullet to take it to citroen main dealer.. but those people are butcher...Last time they quoted me £400 to fix tailgate wiring loom which i had done just for £30. could anyone suggest me what else I can do.. -

I've changed back the original solenoid valve..but still same...but previously it was not like that....paul.h, do u have any idea what could be the wrong! I have cleaned up EGR valve evebthough it was already clean..I have changed new Solenoid valve but it worsen the problem..sooo upsetting..I shouldn't have touched the solenoid..but previously another mechanic toke it off and put it back on and problem wasn't this much..but now the engine light cones on within 5minutes of driving. -
Turbo Solenoid Valve For Citroen C4 1.6Hdi - P0238

I bought a Brand new Solenoid Valve today bought by using citroen part diagram number and it also gave me engine light on with same fault code and I didn't even go to motorway. so it was worse too..I am asking the mechanic to put the original one back..then I will see if it gives me fault code less often or not. -
Hi guys, I am having some fault code which is P0238 related with turbo solenoid valve. I have decided to change it. so few days ago I bought one USED but working order from ebay and the Part no engraved on it is 96.607.758.80. Since i have it replaced i am having engine light on with associate fault code P0238 more than the solenoid valve i had originally. The Solenoid valve i had originally is 96.525.701.80. And i checked the part diagram using my VIN number and found the Solenoid Valve part number is 96.529.975.80. I bought this car second hand.. so i don't have any idea whether the original keeper changed the solenoid valve or not. So my question is should i have to stick with the part number or it doesn't matter.

The glow plug were successfully put inside..EGR Valve were taken out and cleaned thoroughly. but still error code P1351 appeared again and when i went to motor way with the other fault code P0238. so EGR removal and cleaning doesn't help to sort fault code p0238. the symptom of P0238 is..the engine light comes on and stays few ignition times and it goes away itself. it doesn't make the engine to lose power or anything. Anyway, i bought a solenoid valve to see if it solves the problem. but my intuition is, glow plugs are causing all these fault codes. cause there is nothing wrong with the car no power lose.

Hi Paul.h As my fault code P0238 came back and you suggested to clean up EGR Valve (if fault code P0238 comes back) by following that link, i got it done today by a mechanic. the EGR Valve seemed quite clean though..not burnt no dirty inside. Now i will see if the fault code comes back again or no...but the reason I am seeking help now is..when mechanic was working with EGR he found that one of the glow plugs were not properly fitted in the slot. you might have seen on of the broken glow plug's picture i have uploaded somewhere in this forum..so the broken tip remains inside, previous mechanic neither said me anything nor did he fit it properly, actually he broke it when he forced try to unscrew it and it is out of say to mention that fault code P1351 was still exist. Do you have any idea how can i have it removed now. I spoke with the mechanic and he said its very hard job and engine needs to be removed to take the broken tip out which might cost me £300 - £400. other thing is when they were fitting the Windscreen scuttle end of the job they broke the plastic locking clip (under the windscreen not with the scuttle one) which is why right side of the scuttle doesn't fit properly. Do you know the part name or number of this small piece of plastic clip? Thank you.

Got it sorted. Eventually the glow plugs i used were low quality and even one of them were faulty. hence fault code P1351 came back. we found out these when mechanic replaced them with Hidria Glow Plugs bought from eurocarparts. Since yesterday i couldn't see fault code p1351 comes back..hopefully its sorted now. anyone with similar problem make sure use the right and quality glow plugs. otherwise you have to pay twice to the mechanic to sort it out. -

Are you on holiday paul.h? -
Hi coastline taxis, Mechanic is using Diagnostic tool properly and it brings up the code P1351 and if I go to motorway I get engine light on with related fault code P0238.as you guys know that recently I have used wyn's diesel turbo cleaner, now my car runs very smoothly..thought fault code P0238 won't come back again but alas it came back. I got glow plugs replaced with aftermarket product and got the turbo solenoid pressure valvle checked out and cleaned. mechanic said turbo pressure valve was fine. Glow plugs related fault code P1351 has come back too. by the way, one of the original glow plugs were badly broken. you can see the picture in my other post. well, once we changed the glow plugs I thought fault code P1351 has been sorted..mechanic said may be after market glow plugs were not compatible or one of them was faulty. For the vubration, mechanic keep saying Flywheel needs replacing..can anyone tell me where can I find the original part number of flywheel and clutch kit? do I need to replace all of them or just flywheel or clutch kit replacing may sort this vibration problem out.

I have had my glow plugs replaced...and look at the old glow plugs in the picture below. So definitely if there is any fault code P1351 it must be glow plugs broken.. mine were badly broken. By the way, My mechanic friend diagnosed my car and found P0422 (Maximum number of aborted regenerations) and P1728 (CAN Engine torque Implausible) though engine light was not on. Can anyone tell me if these codes were generated because of the spray (Wynes Turbo Cleaner) that I used through the air hose to clean the Turbo? -
Errrhgg...P0238 fault code is back again.. I will get glow plug replaced tomorrow and will ask the mechanic to get the EGR Valve checked out. by the way, my car's vibration has increased a lot especially the left passengers and rear both doors, when fully open they literally shake. Do you think lower back and lower left engine mounts need attention. I open the bonnet after driving 150miles today and found a small piece of rectangular rubber (See the pic underneath) somewhere in engine. i think it came out of something because of heavy vibration. could anyone tell me where might it has come from? Thank you.
