  1. Did you have the torque convertor changed ? what mileage has the vehicle done ? The torque convertor does wear, the close tolerance moving plates inside the convertor simply wear away, this wear causes the torque convertor to produce less pressure of oil. Less pressure of oil means that the gearbox valves are stuggling to open and close and struggling to maintain selection.
  2. If you could get the car to make the noise again and whilst it is making the noise put your foot full on the clutch. If the noise stops then it is at least the clutch release bearing. Whilst it is making the noise turn on the air conditioning and see if the noise stops (or gets worse), that would at least tell you that it is something driven b the fan belt. How long does the noise last ?, does it do it hot or cold ?, does it do it every time you start ? If you are talking abolut a screeching noise immediately after you let go of the key on start up, then it is your starter motor which has a fault.
  3. It would be hard to do unless someone has exactly the same model as yours. Usually I would just ring a local car parts depot such as "Motor Parts Direct" nor any other such establishment. They will ask for your registration number and then give you a price to supply them. There is no obligation to buy and you can ask them for the part number. Alternatively you could PM me your reg and I will get you a price and part number cheers
  4. Great news, well done
  5. Hi Buddy, welcome If you click on "Forums" Scroll to the bottom and click on "Citroen Picasso onwers" You should find all the info you need on there
  6. The problem with most automatics is oil contamination. The whole system, especially inside the Torque Convertor, collects what looks like black silt. I havehad years of problems with the AL4 boxes, if my memmory is correct, it is possible to bu replace ment valve packs for the gearbox for abour 350.00 off ebay. However, getting back to the torque convertor, if you can find an autobox reconditioners they should have a flushing rig. The flushing rig connects two hoses to your gearbox, one inlet and one outlet. The rig pumps new auto fluid into the box and flushes it through and out of the outlet. The amount of black gunge that gets loosend from the bottom of the torque convertor is amazing. Once the oil starts to run clear then the rig is switched off, your auto box oil level is checked and WOW !!!!! does it make a difference to the performance of the auto box. It is an expensive process as you are paying for gallons of auto fluid, I think I paid 270.00 altogether and that was baout 6 years ago. So I would advise you to find an auto box reconditioning company who have a flushing rig. If you have the AL4 auto box, there were some oil pressure solenoid kits available and for the same gearbox you will find the whole valve pack (for inside the gearbox) available on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Peugeot-Fiat-Citroen-AL4-DP0-Automatic-Gearbox-Valve-Body-/222430988747?hash=item33c9eb89cb:g:gpAAAOSwBahU-bfm The following are the pressure solenoid valves which generall are responsible for lack of gearchange pressure.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2574-16-transmission-Solenoid-Valve-For-Fiat-Renault-Peugeot-Citroen-AL4-DPO-New-/252526360161?hash=item3acbbe7661:g:5ikAAOSwoBtW4pAc By the way, it is not beyond the scope of someone who is handy with the tools to change these solenoids or the valve packs themselves. But please note, that is only for the AL4 box.
  7. OK, first are you aware that your vehicle has a canbus electrical system ?
  8. Hi Man with no name Welcome to the forum. What exactly are you trying to do nwith the wiring on the light ?
  9. HI bigswede, never driven a citroen hybrid yet, cant wait to get my hands on one. sounds great
  10. Not a problem Rangoon, you are welcome, please keep us up to date with your progress as it may help some future member with the same problem Cheers
  11. Oh OK, my fault, I assume too much. Lexia is the programme that reads and writes to Citroen vehicles. There are lots of china copies aroun, in fact there is a list on this site of p[eople who have them and where they live. Worth a look as someone near you may be registered, Or perhaps put a request on a seperate post and see if you can find someone. cheers
  12. Hmmm, I do know that once the BSI gets out of sync. it can cause all sorts of strange things to happen. Do you know anyone close by with Lexia ?
  13. Have you tried a soft reset of the BSI. ? By the way, wlecome to the forum BSI Reset procedure........ To perform the reset; Put the drivers window down and lift the bonnet (leave the key in the ignition) Ensure all equipment (stereo etc) is switched off Ensure all doors are closed and reach through the window to remove the key from the ignition Wait 3 minutes Disconnect the battery and then wait 15 seconds Reconnect the battery and wait 10 seconds (Do not open any doors) Switch on the ignition (but don't start the engine) and check that all tests pass Hold the lock button on the key down for 10 seconds Remove the key, open the drivers door, close it and check the central locking works (I had to hold the lock button down for another 10 seconds at this point) Start the engine and complete the systems checkNote: When you put the drivers window up, it won't automatically go all the way up. Make sure you close it all the way before putting it down, otherwise the automatic close won't close it all the way until you next turn the ignition on and off C3 Key reset procedure......... To reprogram the key fobs to the Citroen C3 BSI (or ECU) follow this procedure: Gather all the keys to the car and remove any loops or rings from the keys. Sit in the drivers seat with all the keys and all the doors shut, radio off, no lights, everything OFF Insert a key into the ignition Turn ON the ignition Press and hold the LOCK button on the key for TEN seconds Turn off the ignition and remove the key Insert the next key and repeat the procedure WAIT 1 minute, do NOT switch anything on. When the 1 minute is up, open the drivers door, exit the vehicle, close the door Test the keys each lock and unlock the doors. If the keyfob battery is flat you need this CR2016 battery (click here) they last for years on the shelf (or in the drawer).
  14. Inside the car, any car, buried deep inside the dashboard is a small radiator. When you turn the blower on in the car, air is drawn in and blown through this small radiator to create the heat that warms the interior of the car. These small radiators are fed their water supply from the cooling water inside the engine. If you look to the rear of the engine you should see a supply and return pipe disappearing through the bulk head into the passenger cabin. Sometimes these small internal radiators develop a leak (just like the normal radiator in the engine bay) when they develop a leak the airflow across them picks up the moisture from the leak and deposits it on the windscreen. In my original reply I asked about a smell of "Antifreeze" in the car. If the heater radiator is leaking and the concentration of anti freeze in the water is high enough, you will be able to smell it inside the car. You could try to increase the level of antifreeze in the radiator under the bonnet and after running the engine for a while try to smell the anti freeze in the car. It does not need to be a large leak to cause moisture inside the car. You could also hire a damp meter from a builders merchant and probe it under the carpets to test for mositure content.
  15. Jadblobs When the car is running at tickover, do as Paul suggested and pull the plug off. You should hear a quite discernable change in the engine note when it is unplugged. As I said, I have just done a megane that had exactly the same symptoms and yes, when the customer stopped and switched off it cleared the fault. No codes registered on diagnostics but the MAF sensor was faulty.
  16. You need to check the cam belt. Unfortunately if the starter motor is whirring when you turn the key, and if the car is not trying to start when you bump start it, then I would make checking the cam belt a priority before doing anything else.
  17. No Probs, getting the answer you need is the name of the game, no matter where that answer comes from
  18. If you would like to read a Korean study into car glass and it's problems then you will find this very interesting https://www-esv.nhtsa.dot.gov/Proceedings/24/files/24ESV-000152.PDF As for what type/specification of glass should be used ?, I believe it is a bit of a grey area, I am assuming that manufacturers do not expect occupants who are seated and belted to come into contact with sunroofs (though as you say, anything is possible) by the same token I have also seen laminated windscreens which even after shattering still hold together in one piece and come out of the frame shattered but still in one piece.
  19. Hi Col I am sure Paul H will be along shortly to answer your questions , I believe he owns a C4 or two so should sort you out.
  20. Hi Col If I am not mistaken, I think there is a problem with the site at the moment in that one or two things are waiting foir the site owner to put right. I believe he works away and the moderators are awaiting his return to to remedy the situation. Hang on in there buddy, I am sure one of the moderators will confirm one way or the other cheers I have just tried to alter my own, you are correct, it is impossible to alter at the moment, so looks like we will have to wait for the owner to fix, cheers
  21. Welcome to the forum, it sounds to me like whoever changed the ECU and BSI did not exactly match them up with the cars original equipment or he did not initialise the ECU correctly. Friend or not, the obvious solution would be to take it back to the guy and ask him to put it right, unless of course he did not have the Lexia to initialise the ECU anyway and he was just lucky enough to find a second hand one that fired the car up. Need more infor from the guy who did the job. Cheers
  22. Just humour me on this please. Have you tried switching your headlights on and then indicating again ? check this out . http://service.citroen.com/dtt/IFD/AC/documents/en_GB/AIDE/2050/PDF/infodiag217.pdf Page 5 , last sentence applies. There are reports that sometimes if the comms unit has gone, the rear indicators may decide to work when the lights are on.
  23. Recently done a Megane which was cutting out, rough tick over, going into limp mode, switch off and it would reset, pollution fault reported, started first time everytime. Turned out to be MAF sensor, cheap copy from ebay did not work, had to buy a Siemens at 120.00, problem soved. Before spending fortunes, get a can of electrical cleaner and spray the element of the MAF sensor. Do not touch it with your fingers as the static in your body can blow it. If possible blow the element dry with a compressor air line. You could also try unplugging the MAF sensor altogether and see if that alters ths symptoms you are getting at all.
  24. Welcome to the forum
  25. Hi Gary The 1.6 HDI is a widey used engine across the whole range of Peugeot/Citroen and used by other manufacturers also. As with any engine, longevity depends on how it is driven but more importantly how it is looked after. These HDI engines, if correctly and frequently serviced, should last for many many years and hundreds of thousands of miles. There are of course,as there are with all engines, one or two little quirks built into the engines, no doubt they will materialise as and when they are ready but, nothing to overly worry about and nothing that cannot be righted with the help of the people on here. As for the body of your vehicle, I have had little to do with them, but I am sure someone here will chip in with any body quirks/problems to look out for. Welcome to the forum and I am sure Paul or one of the other mods will be along soon
