Guest TheSiberian Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I recently got my 2003 C5 serviced (75,000km). A few days later I changed over from winter to summer tyres, and after the left side being done (i.e having been jacked up), I noticed a little oil puddle next to the rear right wheel. The oil was clean, so obviously came from the service. I have had no other spills since, about 2 weeks now. Should I return to the garage to enquire? Quote
coastline taxis Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 If its from the back wheel then it cant be engine oil asw thats at the front. Chances are that its lds fluid of the suspension. Did you put the suspension on high b4 jacking it op Quote

Did you put the suspension on high b4 jacking it op Hi, yeah I had assumed it was suspension oil, but no idea why its leaked. No I didn't put the suspension on high before I jacked it up. (Am I supposed to?) forgive me if so, the owner manual is in german, and i can't find an english one online. Another thing to note, the car did change from normal to low position while it was jacked up. EDIT: I keep saying oil.. I know its hydraulic fluid... as soon as I put my hand in it, my brain just said oil.. sorry! Quote
paul.h Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 The handbook does say to raise the car to max height before jacking it up. Some people have reported a lot of problems with the suspension when not doing this (or a garage has not done it) so you seem to have been lucky. Quote

I have changed over summer/winter tyres 3 times in the last year, and never raised it up.. Quote
Guest Pitchfork Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Hmm..... We had mine up on a hydraulic lift this afternoon with the 4 arms on the jacking points so that all 4 wheels were unsupported in order to fit a set of mudflapsWhat problems might this have caused? Quote
