If you get the door open, spray the internal latches. Quote
mark.darlington Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Hi all - I've encountered exactly the same problem - but it is the rear n/s door. (bearing in mind there is no lock on the rear door to spray any WD40) I've tried disconnecting the battery for 10+ mins to reset all electrics with no success. Also taken door panel off and peeled back skin to look inside - all rods and linkages intact/working, but the door will not open :o I stumbled across another posting elsewhere suggesting this was a known Xsara problem, and that a main dealer would have to fit a new lock - but there was no indication of how the dealer would get the door open to change the lock. Any ideas? Cheers, mark Quote
kfk Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 You smash it off from inside the door once the trims off......nothing exciting! Quote
mark.darlington Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 It seems that it's the deadlock part of the mechanism that is seizing up. Last night I had another go fiddling with the lock. I tapped the back of the lock (from inside the door) with a hammer whilst locking/unlocking the door, and hey-presto, the door is now open! I can lock/unlock the door fine on the normal lock, but if I deadlock it, it's hit and miss if the door will then re-open. Now I know how to get it open, that's not the end of the world. I'll get a new lock fitted at some point. I offer this advice in the hope that it will save someone else having their door mutilated by the garage trying to smash the lock off. Cheers,Mark Quote
kfk Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I dont think i mentioned anything about mutilating a door! I said we smashed the lock off from inside the door........which is what you will have to do in the event the method you are using now fails in the future. Quote
mark.darlington Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Fair enough - but when you talk of smashing a lock off I would suspect that most people would imagine some damage occuring. If that's not the case, then respect! What's the secret? :o Cheers,Mark Quote
MJC Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 I had a similar problem (drivers door and the rear door behind it were "deadbolted" and stayed locked even when door locks showed red for unlocked). I was able to remove the door card, but couldn't open the door using any of the mechanisms inside. I can share the following: I found I could open the doors from the inside handle during the brief moment between the central locking being locked (by me using the key fob) and then unlocking themselves automatically. This was easier to time with someone else doing the key fob. Then I found two wire broken in the rubber gaiter at the front of the door. I undid the connector and cheerfully got to work on new connections. Walking past my car I made the wonderful decision to close the door to get by a bit easier. Oops. So now in a worse state than I started as the method above would no longer work (no power to door lock). But I was able to hotwire the deadbolt using a small 9v battery and two pins. Not sure I could recommend this with door loom connected, but as mine was disconnected I decided to give it a go. By sticking pin in the orange wire and another pin in the purple wire up near the door lock, and then putting 9v across the pins, I heard the deadbolt actuate. The door then opened with the inside handle. Yay! I put insulating tape around the pin holes. Quote
