skaramanga Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 When I went to pick up my 2009 VTR+, I was surprised when the dealer told me it actually has got daytime running lights, I thought he meant the LED's and dismissed it, as those were not introduced until late 2010. But they are actually bright bulbs in the strip at the bottom of the headlights. Strangely though, they are disabled by default and there, by default, is no option in the menu to enable them. He asked if I wanted them enabled, and after a few minutes on the computer now they are enabled and I now have an extra option in the car's menu to enable or disable them. It actually looks quite smart with them on, but it is good that they can be turned off if required. This might be a feature that some people are unaware of, who have bought one of these C5's. Quote
bazzer Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 hello I suppose I am a bit late with this reply , but I have just bought a 2010 citroen c5 and I have the same problem ? there is a strip of lights below my headlight and I also have read my manual and tried to find the lights activation switch ,but was not successful . would I have the same problem that you had ? coastline taxis Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Not sure about this but i think its down to how they set them up before going on the road as each spec level has certain features. And if you get a lexia its just a case of going in and switching on what you want. like i say im not a 100 per cent on it but just remember reading something somewhere Quote
bazzer Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 many thanks for your reply !!it,s just one of those things that annoy you . the lights are on the car but not sure how to get them working !I didn't want to go rushing to citroen dealer yet , but I might have to now to get there advice . cheers anyway !!! coastline taxis Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 What area are you in as some of the members on tis forum might have a lexia and do it for free for you Quote
Pembr0ke Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I had the same problem and found that pushing the left rotating wheel on the steering wheel, before starting the ignition brings up a menu on the speedo dashboard display. You can enter the lighting menu by pushing the small scroll wheel again to select on/off for day running lights. Saved an expensive trip to the Citroen dealer. I drive a 2010 C5 Tourer VTR+ 2.0 160bhp. Quote
bazzer Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 This message is for Coastline Taxis many thanks for your reply , im in the south Yorkshire area and not sure how to find out if there is a member in my area with a Lexia to check it out for me ? Can you give me any info on how to find a member ? Quote
paul.h Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Maybe the easiest way is to do a new post since we do not have a list of members with a Lexia. Quote
qman3428 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I tried the solution proposed by Pembr0ke, you dont need a lexia, just follow the instructions Quote
bazzer Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 thanks for your replies much appreciated !!!! I have tried out pembr0kes method ,but when I went in to my lighting menu list ,day time running light option is not there ? looks like a visit to a citroen dealer .thanx guys Quote
JM53 BEL Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I have the Lexia3 which works on the C5 and i activated my DRL's myself. Took me about 10 mins to do it and it looks great, Quote
bazzer Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 hi jm53 belcan you tell if you had to turn them on with the lexia ,or was it already in the index on the dash Quote
JM53 BEL Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I had to activate them with Lexia, but there are 3 differant settings1. Dedicated DRL. Thats the ones that are your drl.2. Shared DRL. Which doesnt bring on the drl bulb it puts your headlights only on,3. DRL shared with sidelights which is self explanitory, Its pretty easy to do once you figure out where to go in lexia, but once you have activated them using Lexia it gives you the Quote
JM53 BEL Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Sorry oonce you activate using Lexia it the comes up in your settings so you can switch them on and off as you please Quote
DougTheDrummer Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 My C5 Tourer (2009/09) doesn't have the option to activate the daytime running lights on the dash menu, my only options for lighting are 1) Directional lighting for un-lit country roads etc, and 2) Follow me home lighting which basically just means the headlights stay on for 15 seconds after you lock the car). Any one know if there is a way to activate these DRL's without going to the main dealer? There are definitely bulbs installed in the thin strip section at the bottom of the headlamp unit - it's just knowing how to get them working!! Quote
paul.h Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Welcome to the forum. From the above posts by JM53BEL, you need to activate the lights first using a Lexia and then they will appear on the car menu. So it is a case of getting a Lexia, or going to a dealer or if you are near to a member with a Lexia, asking if they will activate them for you. There is a pinned post one of the C5 subforums with a list of members able to help with diagnostics. Quote
DougTheDrummer Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Sorry for my ignorance, but I've no idea what a 'lexia' is..?? Quote
paul.h Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 A Lexia is the diagnostic tool used by Citroen dealers. It plugs in to the cars OBD plug and lets the dealer alter settings, read and clear fault codes, see sensor live data and do many other things. Low cost versions are available that can be used on a lap top. Quote
DougTheDrummer Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Ok mate, thanks very much for your help :D Quote
silasthesailor Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 (edited) My old 2002 LX turns on lights as soon as I start her' are they daytime running lights? I have tried to turn them off( press the end of the lights stack with the key on position 1) but as soon as she starts she turns them on. Also, they go off when I use the left indicator so there is a short somewhere. Any ideas as to turn them off permanently or at least correct the malfunction with the indicator as to I do not want to have opposite coming vehicles thinking I am signaling with the lights off Edited April 13, 2014 by silasthesailor Quote
qman3428 Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 On my latest version you put the key to the accessories position and then the menu button give access to the running lights (dont start the engine) Quote
paul.h Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 The lights going off when the indicator is used could mean a problem with the light switch - but this is part of the steering column comms 2000 switch unit so it may all need to be replaced. Quote
