DaveHerns Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 The driver's side headlamp washer comes out, sprays the headlamp but doesn't want to go back without a helping hand Anyone know how these work - do they return by a spring , water pressure oe electric ?I suppose I can get at it by taking the bumper off and the headlamp out ?I can live with it but I like all things working properly Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 They come out under water pressure - so presumably they go back helped by a spring. And a strong spring it is because my method of replacing the covers is to press the operating lever (through the window) and while it's still spraying, grab hold of it and hang on while the cover is replaced. It takes a firm grip to hold it. Quote
DaveHerns Posted August 21, 2011 Author Posted August 21, 2011 Tried the WD40 so I think I'm going to take it out for a strip down. The washer covers are very fragile where the 2 bottom legs clip on so I've drilled and wired mine so they can't fall off and get lost Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 I'd lost one of mine within 9 months of getting the car. Citroen warranty didn't want to know. Thereafter I've always had them tied with small zip-ties. Easily snipped off when doing bumber removal. Quote
DaveHerns Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 This has cured (?) itself with occasional squirts of WD40 and a bit of exercising in and out .Left it a while and now it's OKI was going to have a look at it next time the front bumper had to come off for a sidelight bulb change Quote
DaveHerns Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 Nearside one started playing up but with a good squirt of WD40 and a bit of exercising it's now fine and they both go in and out together I think the answer is to use them occasionally as I wasn't Quote
