mark k Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 hi there i have 2003 2.0 hdi c5 had no probs with till the other week, its lack of power up hills it goes ok very slow then it takes off witch it has never done before and the fuel goes down faster as well i havent changed the fuel filter for about a year dont no if it could be that but i used to get 80-90 mph for £10 and now i get 50-60 for the same and i no fuel cost change but only a couple of pence Quote
paul.h Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Welcome to the forum. I would copy your post to the C5 subforum to make sure it is not missed by the C5 owners. For your £10, with diesel at about £1.40 a litre, before you were getting about 54 mpg and now about 35 mpg. A couple of easy things to check are if the air filter is clean and if there are any air leaks in the various hoses and the air inlet pipes. I think fuel filter replacement is about every 40k miles so probably nothing to do with this. You could also check if the brakes are binding by seeing if they seem hot after a run. It could be a problem with the air mass meter but I would do the easy checks first but you could see if it is clean. Quote
mhedwig Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 with it lacking power check turbo is working properly as well and get fault code read on ecu Quote
Stu63 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 . It could be a problem with the air mass meter but I would do the easy checks first but you could see if it is clean. That's what it was with mine, I had the same symtoms, got a new one and fine....btw dont get a cheap one, get the siemens Quote
Alan Hardware Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Did you get it fixed ? Mine was simple , same fault . It needed 1 new brake light switch @ 10.00 pounds and 1 new MAF @ 120.00 Pounds ( genuine part ) , car performs well now . Quote
