the2ems Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I have a 2005 C5 diesel which I have had for 5 years. It has 55000 genuine mileage. Recently I have been having an intermittent problem where the engine seems to cut out for just a second while driving. It sometimes does it two or three times in quick succession, a bit like a backfire, but without any noise, just the jerking. I'm worried that it might be an expensive repair, and even an investigation might be quite costly. Has anyone had anything like this and can give me an idea of what I may be looking at?Cheers Quote
paul.h Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 2 things you could check, water in the fuel filter to drain out, wear in the accelerator pedal electrics if it does it at the same pedal position each time. There are probably many other things as well and a check of the wiring and sensor connectors around the engine may find something. If you did have a diagnostic check there may be some fault codes logged but ones that are not bad enough to bring on the engine light. If it started on the last fuel tank fill then it may be that. qman3428 Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Just a thought but the fuel filter needs to be replaced every 40000 miles, if you havent done it it could be fuel starvation Quote

Nrog Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Hi, Bit of a late reply, but if you still have the vehicle, I have experienced exactly the same problem. I also have a 1.6hdo 110bhp C5. It was like a flat spot around 1500rpm which jerked/juddered just like a misfire but in a split second. Nobody could diagnose a fault until I took it on recommendation to a Citroen Specialist. It turned out to be the Turbo Vac Solenoid and cost about £45 +vat. The problem used to happen several times daily but since fited it hasnt happened once (touch wood!). Good luck! Quote
