Guest syd312r Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Hello,Not too sure were this should be posted as I am a new member needing advice.Does anyone know of a video showing how to top up the Eolys fluid on 2007 C5.I have the instructions that came with the Eolys fluid, but this female would find a video possiblymore useful. Willing to have a try as no one to help, can't afford to take to dealership.I have found several Eolys videos on the subject but they are in French Quote
paul.h Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) Welcome to the forum. There is a recent post on topping up the Eolys fluid and it has been pointed out that it would still need to go to a dealer or other who has the dealer type of diagnostic Lexia to tell the car the fluid has been topped up or it will still think the level is low. Rather than topping up the fluid and replacing the exhaust particle filter, many people have had the filter removed or the inside filter drilled through and the car software modified to remove references to the fluid. The C5 subforum may be the best place for this post. Guest syd312r Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Hi Paul H.Thank you for your post . I was aware it will require some sort of diagnostic intervention re the Eolys fluid levels. But if I can manage the actual top up that will be a good start for me.Great info & advice instead of the top up!!Will also take a look in the C5 sub forum as suggested...when I find it... I shall copy my message there.Once again a big thankyouFran Quote
Johndouglas Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 But if I can manage the actual top up that will be a good start for me. For what you'll pay for the fluid and then to the dealer for the Lexia visit, you could have the filter drilled and the ECU remapped. I had my FAP removed over a year ago, all without any problems arising. Quote
Guest syd312r Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Hello JohndouglasThank you for posting a response. Can I just ask, if I go along similiar route to you re the FAP etc. Will this have any affect when my MOT comes around? Thanks Fran Quote
paul.h Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 With the FAP removed/drilled through, the cars still pass the MOT. You can see the MOT test manual through the direct gov website for what is required but I think it is just a smoke test. Leaving the filter body in place may be a requirement which is achieved by drilling through the internal filter. Quote
Johndouglas Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 As yours is a 2007 car, if you had the filter removed you would have no trouble with the MOT. The filter box is still there - it's just that there's not much inside it. Also the ECU has to be rewritten so that the engine computer knows that there's no regeneration process. Again there's nothing to show as far as the MOT is concerned. The engine will produce just a little bit more smoke on the test result but well within the 3M-1 maximum. But with later engines (maybe after 2008?) I believe there's a lower maximum pass figure, so I wouldn't suggest filter removal on them. Quote
Guest syd312r Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 HiHave more or les now decided to go along with the Fap removed/drilled option. There is a place called Revtronic in Bradford who specialise in this sort of thing, admittedly quite a distance from me. However someone I know has used this service a couple of times and they seem to have good feedback.Just waiting to hear about appointment time. So I guess my Eolys fluid will be getting sold, at least I can use the money to put towards the fuel cost of getting there. Thanks again for postsFran Quote
