jlodge10 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Hi All, New to the forum, need some advise please. I have a c4 Grand picasso 2007 1.6 HDI 80,000 miles on clock. Had for 3 years trouble free, 3 weeks ago whiles my wife was driving itlost all power & made a wining noise. Took it to local garage & said turbo gone, Quoted £1400 to repair, My brother inlaw works as amachanic at fords & said will do for me, he did this cost me £600 for bits & labour once done ran perfect. I thought great problem sorted! 2 weeks later wife driving at 60mph engine running fine, just decides to cut out & warning sava DPF filter blocked, AA came & started car but10 meters down road cut out again, and again. Then towed to garage they looked at & said 2 intecters faulty I got changed £500. but enginestill cutting out, so they said DPF filter blocked will cost another £600 to fix. at this point im getting scared & cant afford much more. I googles & found local company that removed the filter £300 & remaps the ECU for better MPG, got this done, & engine now runs loverly (was not too bad enyway but deff sounded better after, BUT STILL CUTS OUT. from cold fine for first 3-4 mins then cuts out, then starts fine, then cuts out few metres down road, only drives under 1000rpm (so 10mph) not fun!! Man that removed filter said can help anymore, says maybe ECU fust box of a BSI???? really not sure what to do now, pulling my hair out!!! any ideas?? thank John Quote
paul.h Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 It may be something fuel related, when was the fuel filter last changed, should be about every 40000 miles ?Or something like the crank position sensor - symptoms of these failing are cutting out once they warm up but then letting the engine start again once cooled down. This would not give an engine management light. Have you had a diagnostic check at a Citroen dealer ? If not, it could be cheaper than keep changing lots of parts. Quote
coastline taxis Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 when it cuts out are you getting engine management light on. and as paul said you need a diagnostic on the car or youl go bankrupt trying to find the fault. Quote
