paul.h Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Welcome to the forum. These are all speed related so it could be a problem with one of the wheel abs sensors or may be the brake light switch. You could have a look at these but a dealer diagnostic check will tell you what is wrong without trial and error part replacement. Quote
Randombloke Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 You could look at the cost of buying the diagnostic kit to plug in, then you see the investment the dealers are trying to recoup. If you post a rough location, then forum members may suggest reliable independents who can help you. Worth checking that all the wires/connectors around the ABS sensors are tight and undamaged. Quote
phil734 Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 Thank you for your help and ideas, im from morecambe in lancashire.have checked all the wires and nothing appears to be damaged or loosedid find broken brake pad wear cable which as been repaired and alsofound near side brake wear sensore cable was discconected, but still the fault keeps croping up, but only under braking. Roger W Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I had a similar problem on my 09 C5 2.0 hdi VTR Tourer. Under warranty the central brake balancing 'box' was replaced, and then again on a recall. It used to show all the warning lights and then mysteriously reset itself until the next time! After the second change it never reappeared. Quote
paul.h Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 On the General Discussions and Nonsense pages, there is a link to a Citroen recall site where can do a one off check and see if your car has had this brake recall. Quote
phil734 Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 Today had diagnostic unit plugged into the grrr useless carno fault code or fault found in any normal places, but when lookingat the esp/asr/abs computer it showed brake pressure as being 110bar?mmmmm pretty impossible on a braking system, maybe a jumbo perhapsbut not on a car, mechanic still cratching his head 5 hrs later, any ideasor any iseas how much a abs brake pump may cost? It may be that whatever measures brake pressure is faulty. Diagnostics need interpretation. Quote
paul.h Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 If you do need a new hydraulic block, it will need calibrating as well as a few other associated bits so a dealer visit will be needed or somebody else with the correct diagnostic equipment. We had to have this done on a C4 that needed a new one after accident damage and the repairer did not have the equipment to do it.It is hard to imagine how there would be any pressure in the brakes if they were not being used unless the diagnostics ran the abs pump and actuated the hydraulic valves. phil734 Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 today discoverd that the fault only occurs when ambient temperature goes above 21degmmmm, now that may have put a spanner in the works to what it may be???? Quote
paul.h Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Was the diagnostic check done by a Citroen dealer ?At least only showing up when it is above 21°C, it will not occur again this year. Quote
phil734 Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 diagnostic's performed by the main dealer and charged me a arm and a leg and a lungthere was no fault code only that that the esr/abs had stored a fault. well summer is over withso wont happen again Quote
phil734 Posted July 3, 2013 Author Posted July 3, 2013 problem gone away on it's own :) weird but not complainingbut air con compressor not working now, and just wonderingif anyone knows where the clutch relay is for the compressorRegards Phil Quote
paul.h Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Was the air con giving cold air before or just a bit cold ? - just in case it needs regassing and the amount left is not enough to give sufficient pressure for the compressor to run. A regas is about £50 at a dealer and includes a vacuum/pressure test for leaks. Also the cabin fan needs to be running for the air con to work. From the Citroen manual, things to check if the air con compressor clutch does not engage or disengages quickly:-- compressor clutch- lack of refrigerant- air con pressure switch (on the condenser matrix at the front of the car) - check the connector but to replace will need the refrigerant removing/replacing.- air con evaporator temperature sensor- electrical circuit (connectors, wiring , fuses, etc). Any relay is most likely to be in the engine fuse box. Quote
