buzz-uk Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 hi, we recently purchased a 2001 synergie 2.0 hdiabout a week later the engine managment light came on so we took it to our local garage who cleared the codes and sent us on our way again. within 20 minutes the light came back on so we returned to the garage who then read the codes for us and gave us a list of the problems. he recomends seeing a auto electrician to get the car looked at as they are unsure on how to fix the problem themselves.the codes are as follows.p0220 - throttle/pedal position sensor/switch b circutp0560 - system voltagep0120 - throttle/pedal position sensor a circut basically we are wondering if the throttle position sensor is something i could replace myself, if so where would i find it?ideally we would like to spend as little as possible since we just shelled out a fair bit on the car. i have taken it to a local auto spark but he wouldnt give me a price to do the job which suggests to me its either a really cheap fix or its one of those really fiddly jobs that everyone hates doing. having already had the codes for him he wanted to charge me to read the codes again which set me on edge straight away, especially since the guys who checked the codes originally suggested i go to this guy.anyway any help will be greatly appreciated and if any more info is required ill gladly supply anything needed. buzz-uk Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 ok little update, i actually had a look under the bonnet and found it nice and easily, it doesnt look too difficult to swap over, but should that fix the issues im having with the position sensor? Quote
paul.h Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Welcome to the forum. It is often better to go to a dealer since they have the correct diagnosis equipment (Lexia for Citroens). Replacement of the throttle position sensor may or may not fix the fault and I do not know about the 0560 code (voltage fault). Citroens procedures do not give how to replace the part so it must be simple and not take long. However, once replaced it needs the ecu to be initialised and the procedure depends on the make of ecu installed. The fault codes may also need to be cleared. A worn sensor may give running problems at certain pedal positions - are there any symptoms ? Example procedure:14. Computer BOSCH M7.4.4/ME7.4.4 / ME7.4.615.1. Programming of the throttle positionIn the following conditions :Coolant temperature between 5°C and 100°CAir temperature higher than 5°CDo not press the accelerator pedalSwitch on the ignition , Wait 30 seconds.Switch off the ignition , Wait 30 seconds.15.2. Initialisation of the accelerator pedal position sensor, "accelerator fully depressed" positionSwitch on the ignition and press the accelerator down fully.Return to "pedal released".Without accelerating, start the engine and allow it idle. paul.h Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 An internet search on P0560 suggests the battery voltage may be wrong - check it with a meter in case it needs a charge or is being overcharged. With out the engine running should be about 12.5 volts, with it running should be about 14.4 volts. Quote
Randombloke Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Get one of these on eBay and run with it in the cigarette lighter socket: http://i.ebayimg.com/t/LED-Car-Battery-Electric-Cigarette-Lighter-Voltmeter-Voltage-Meter-DC-12V-24V-/00/s/NDUxWDUwMA==/z/Cr8AAMXQjWtRKwIe/$T2eC16RHJHQE9nzEzND4BRKwId)h8!~~60_12.JPG Quote
