The wipers on my R reg Mark II Xantia won't stop in the correct place, parallel to the bottom edge of the windscreen when they are on intermittent wipe or when I switch them off.

They always start to make the next up stroke and stop after they've travelled about 3 inches.

Does anyone know if there's a way to adjust the wiper motor to stop this happening?

Maybe this will work.   Lift the cover covering the spindle nut.   Remove the spindle nut, then lever off the arm on both sides of the windscreen.   With the arms removed, switch on the wiper motor for a couple of sweeps then switch off.   Refit both arms so that the blades are parallel with the lower edge of the screen.

Depending on the success of John's reply, it looks as if the wiper mechanism (con rod assembly) could be unbolted from the wiper motor shaft, the wipers moved to the correct park position and then the wiper motor nut tightened back up. It could be the nut has become loose or maybe a bit of wear on the mechanism/shaft joint. To get to the wiper motor, the wipers need to be removed (mark their position on the windscreen with masking tape before undoing) and the windscreen scuttle removed.
