mikeparkins Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Hello All, New to the site, also new to leaving a topic online so please forgive me if I do not follow correct proceedure.I have just completed my first 1,000 miles in a new Citroen C4 HDi 115 Exclusive. The first time I have driven a diesel and a very uplifting experience it has been so far. I have mixed milage of about 400 miles driving around town and small country lanes, and the rest on motorways. At the moment I am getting about 48 m.p.g. in town and countryroad driving and about 64 m.p.g. on motorways. I feel that this is a good result so far, but as I say I am new to diesel engines. I did test drive several cars beforehand, Ford, Vauxhall and Kia, which were all pleasant enough and had various attributes between them, but when I first sat in the Citroen it all felt right, the build quality and comfort were a surprise and when I took it for a test drive my wife and I just felt so at ease with the car.Okay it does have it's own little quirks and gimmicks but I found the ride very acceptable. It picked up several complaints from reviewers because it did not take corners very well and felt every bump in the road, a harsh comment, I thought. It is not a Golf GTi nor a Focus ST it is a cruising car with a good turn of power when needed and I am pleased that I took time to read other non partisan reviews before choosing it. Mike. Quote
coastline taxis Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 glad your enjoying your citroen and welcome to the site. well done on your 1st posting. Citroens like any other make have there faults but overall i rate them as one of the better buys. we run c5s and get 3 to 400k out of them before we even think of getting rid of them Quote
paul.h Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 If it has only done 1000 miles since new it will not be run in yet so your performance and mpg will improve. We have a 2011 C4 1.6 hdi 110 hp and it is a comfy long distance cruiser with good performance so you should enjoy your car. Motorways always gives at least 60 mpg at 65-70 mph, unless weather is bad and day to day about 48 mpg. You may find the Citroen knockers have yet to own one. Only points I do not like are the large headrests which make rear/side visibiltiy difficult, the tinted side rear windows, the fancy shaped door mirrors that do not give good rear visibility and at first had to be careful when lane changing.
