jhatter Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I have a problem with water leaking into my car at the base of the ariel, where the black moulded plastic bit sits on the roof. The water then collects in the transparent light shade of the courtesy light above the rear seats. If I bought some clear silicone sealant from a DIY store would this fix the problem? Would some a product like this affect the plastic or paint work? Does anyone else have any suggestions to fix this problem? C5 HDi 110 manual LX 2002 Quote
coastline taxis Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 If you pull the headlining down a bit youl see a wire with a nut on it remove thw nut and pull the ariel off. youl see a perrished rubber oring type of seal, take it to any discount or diy shop and theyl sell you one, replace the lot and the jobs done Quote
jhatter Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 Thanks for your reply. I'm totally none-technical so please can you tell me what the headlining is? Cheers! Quote
paul.h Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 The headlining is the cloth ceiling above your head. With the hatch door open, start to undo/lower it in the middle at the door opening, sufficient to get a hand between it and the metal roof, but be careful since it can crack. It may be necessary to remove the side plastic trim. Quote
jhatter Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 Thanks. I'll have a go this weekend. Quote
coastline taxis Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 If you open the boot/tailgate and pull the rubber sealing trim off where the ariel is youl see a gap just push the headlining down a bit and your hand will fit straight in. Quote
