theninjaturtle Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Hi all, my first posting on here today so cheers all for any help coming my way. Just bought a berlingo 20 ltr hdi multispace for work can use as van/car. its done 92000 miles runs very well to be fair but its missing handbook and from what i have gathered the key to change roof bars around. Also fuel gauge seems to be stuck at 3/4 full.. My first q is do i need to buy a special type of key or are they the hex type keys which i can buy at motor factors. q 2 is the fuel guage a common problem and anyone have any ideas as to fix. q 3 I could just use the trip counter so to be safe approx how many mpg should i get on mixed milage. q4 if i use trip counter and carry some diesal in a container in case i was to run out does this carry any probs in itself as regards starting again etc. Got to say seems like berlingo is a great car / van to use for work. I know its a lot of qs but any help with them will be of great help and many thanks for your time / effort. Best regards all and well done on a great forum. theninjaturtle. Quote
paul.h Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 The handbook can be seen for cars from about 2008 on the service.citroen website, documentation de bord, select language and then your car http://service.citroen.com/ddb/. These only give a 1.6 hdi so I guess your car is earlier than this. Dealers seem to be able to supply new handbooks and a member recently bought one for a C5 and at a price below s/h ebay ones. The Citroen roof bars that go across our 2007 C5 estate fasten with a torx key. This is held in the end of the bars behind a key locked cover that pulls out (I cannot find this key so do not know the torx size). If the dash gauge needle moves when the ignition is on then it is most likely the fuel tank gauge is at fault. The fuel gauge may be worn out and need replacing but you could check if its electrical connector is on and clean. On most cars access to the gauge is under the rear seat by removing a rubber cover but in your case you may have to lower the fuel tank to do this which could mean draining it first. It is also possible the gauge float may be catching the tank side. A 2.0 hdi C5 estate fuel consumption from a 2005 brochure is 36/56/47 mpg urban/extra urban/combined (CO2 158 g/km) so you are probably going to get something similar. If you have the V5C registration doc that will give the CO2 emissions and an indication of fuel consumption. Best thing may be to fill the tank, use it for some time then refill and calculate an actual fuel consumption. If you run out of fuel there is a risk of damage to the fuel pumps but in any case the filter would need priming and there is likely a hand bulb pump near the filter. If there is not a pump, then just start the engine and it should self prime. Quote
