lp2103 Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Hi.Im new to this site and currently finding my way around it.Ive been the owner of a ford fiesta for the past 4 years - decided to change and liked the look of the c3. Went to view one Saturday and test drove it and put a deposit down.. Due to collect tomorrow and 1 things bothering me, the biting point. It seems very high...Maybe its due to the change of car, has on the fiesta i barely have to take my foot of clutch to get the biting point. What everyones opinion on the matter? Does the C3 have a high biting point? Can anyone compare it to other car makes? Quote
lp2103 Posted October 9, 2013 Author Posted October 9, 2013 sorry - just to confirmCar is C3 2010Previously used has a mobility car.23k on clock.1.4i VTR+ Quote
paul.h Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Welcome to the forum. The C3 does have a high biting point and others have questioned it on here, once this has been confirmed they have not come back with any problems. In our family are a 2003 and a 2010 1.4 petrol C3 and both are similar, with a high biting point and a light clutch pedal. You can check the clutch does not slip going up a hill so you know it is ok and if from a Citroen dealer you will have 12 months warranty. Quote
lp2103 Posted October 9, 2013 Author Posted October 9, 2013 Thank you so much for the prompt reply and also the welcoming.Im purchasing from 'the car shop' opted for the extra warranty, but clutch is not covered in this, so thought id ask on here for opinons.I have googled the matter and alot seem to state that the citroens have the higger clutch but id rather get verification from acutal owners. I must worn you, i am quite a worrier when it comes to cars :)The reason for switching is because i need a realiable car and the ford fiesta i own is letting me down. I understand that cars have the odd issue and im not guaranteed to be problem free with me changing but hoping the Citroen will do me proud. Since telling people the deposit has been placed on the car i have had bad comments, but on the other hand excellent comments from people who have owned Citroens. With me not owning one in the past i do not feel i can judge like friends/family have. Really looking forward to collecting tomorrow.Although my loved fiesta is going im excited for the C3... Quote
paul.h Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Our experience of Citroens over the last 8 years are they are the most reliable cars we have had (Xsara Picasso, 2 C4s, 2 C5s, 2 C3s) and they do not rust. Prior to this I used to spend many weekends doing car repairs. The 2003 C3 had a couple of early problems covered by the warranty (injector failure and front coil spring failure ) but for the last 6 years has been reliable, costs very little to maintain and is easy to diy maintain. It has recently been replaced by the 2010 C3 (the old one is still in the family) and this is an improvement but seems to retain a lot of the same parts. For the 2010 model the only workshop manual I am aware of is Citroen's one on dvds from such as ebay for about £4 and this is worth getting. Another thing you will find is the C3 brakes are keen and require little pedal effort - this has been queried before on the forum. Quote
lp2103 Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 yes - i noticed the breaks also on the test drive...just going to take it steady for a few days untill i can get used to all the different changes. Thanks again.. Quote
Johndouglas Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I'm another Citroen fan having had a succession of BX, Xantia and C5 as my main car and also my tow car, since 1990. I also run a 15 year old Saxo as a runabout which I've had from almost new The Saxo has been so reliable that it's not been back to a garage since I got it - other than for its MOT certificate. The rest of the family have also owned either Citroen or Peugeot for years. In the UK Citroen isn't held in very high regard by the majority of the driving public. Although never having owned one, they persist in repeating hearsay about poor quality and unreliability. Quote
seefive Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 My son's Puegeot 207 1.4 petrol, bought new 2 years ago, has always had a very high biting point. You think you'll never going! Agree on the reputation comment. PSA cars deserve much better. VW deserves much worse! Quote
lp2103 Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 well ive collected today and to be honest, the biting point isnt has high has i originally thought..just need to get used to the size difference compare to my old one but hopefully that wont b long..managed the drive home without stalling so impressed :) Quote
