citrophile Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Am in the middle of changing the turbo and suspension was on low setting until I jacked the front up and now the back has changed to a high setting. How can I get it to go back down if the engine is not running.ThanksRob Quote
paul.h Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 When you let some of the lds fluid out of the depressurising bleed screws the suspension sinks. So, if you let out some of the fluid from the rear bleed screw (approx in the middle of the rear axle) the rear will drop down. Use axle stands though to stop it going down too far. First you could slacken the lds tank cap to release any pressure in there. Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 why dont you finish the turbo off then just fire the engine up and the car will level itself out Quote
citrophile Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 i was a bit worried that the back would lower itself when i was under the car but to be on the safe side i have now put a jack under each jacking point at the back. should have it all finished tomorrow, fingers crossed Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 speaking from bitter personal experience thats a very wise thing to do Quote
Bobster Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Hi, I have often thought that as the suspension pump is electrical (as opposed to mechanical found on earlier Citroens), it would be so useful to be able to adjust the suspension without the engine running, especially when working on the engine. There must be a way as if you fill the boot with the engine off, the rear drops but as soon as you close it, the pump starts and up she rises! Of course she does this when you plip the doorlocks after an overnight rest. Strange! Happy C5ing, Bob. Quote
citrophile Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 Oops - Have just posted this in another topic!! Finished the turbo change and everything works great except that the front suspension doesn't go up and down. Rear suspension is fine.Do you think something needs to be reset? Could it be related to the anti-roll bar which I took off when I removed the front sub-frame?CheersRob Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 youve probally knocked the ride hieght adjuster. Check that its conected and set corectley Quote
citrophile Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 if its the small unit fixed to the middle of the anti-roll bar then i disconnected it. I reconnected it and didn't change the position where it was fixed to the anti-roll bar but the connecitng arm would have moved when it was taken out. If this is where the problem is how do I reset to the correct ride height? Rob Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 What setting is your front suspension on now both what the display is saying and the actual hieght of the car. And just out of pure daftness do a BSI reset first Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Jus another thaught have you put the link rod back the correct way as the sensor might of spun round when it was off. It needs to be at the bottom of the sensor If its at the top disconect it and move it round Quote
