citrophile Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Well, finally finished the turbo change and everything works great except that the front suspension doesn't go up and down. Rear suspension is fine. Do you think something needs to be reset? Could it be related to the anti-roll bar which I took off when I removed the front sub-frame? Cheers Rob Quote
Randombloke Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 The height corrector for the front suspension is connected to the anti roll bar, you must have disconnected it to remove it, have you reconnected it? Quote
citrophile Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Yes, I did disconnect it but reconnected it when I put the anti-roll bar and sub-frame back on. Do I need to do something to reset it? Quote
paul.h Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I do not know if you followed the Haynes manual when disconnecting the sensor - disconnect battery, support on axle stands, disconnect sensor wiring plug, prise the linkage rod from the sensor arm, lock the sensor arm in place using a 5mm diameter drill/rod, undo the bolt and remove the sensor. Refitting is a reversal but remove the 5mm rod before connecting the linkage rod, if a new sensor has been fitted have the ride height checked at a dealer. In the Citroen procedures it does not say to disconnect the battery, the rod is 4mm and on refitting, the sensor is positioned with the aid of a pin next to the bolt. It may be the sensor is a bit seized and needs wd40 or similar spraying on it to free it up. Do any work on the sensor with the car on axle stands since playing with it will alter the car height and you would not want to be under it otherwise. Quote
citrophile Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Didn't follow any procedure to be honest.Annoying thing is that Haynes says to disconnect the anti-roll bar from the subframe but you can actually leave it attached and I wouldn't have had to do anything apart from unplugging it.So, if I start fiddling with it now, how do I know it's correct? citrophile Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Hi AllManaged to get under the car today and, yep, the sensor had got turned around when the roll bar was taken off. Have now positioned it correctly and reset the roll bar ends (50mm below the subframe as per haynes!) and tightened everything up.Started her up and hey presto the front suspension, after a bit of pursuasion (seemed to have got stuck a bit probably due to 3 weeks of inactivity) now moves up and down when buttons pressed.Only issue at the moment is that the front does seem to be a little higher than I remember it and ride seems a bit hard and bouncy when I just took it down the road for a short drive. Is it possible that the ride height could have changed slightly when everything got taken off? Maybe the roll bar wasn't set at the 50mm previously? How can I check if the ride height is correct or not? Thanks Quote
