ivorcitroen Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Does anyone know how the door switch(curtesy light)operates? Can't see any switches like you would see on older cars,(ie compressed in the door jamb opening the switch),are they proximity switches? The reason why i'm asking this is when doing the battery dis/reconnect procedure and you can't get the driver's window down because of eco mode, won't start, there should be a way to fool the bsi into thinking the door is closed. If it is a proximity switch you could use a magnet to open the switch so when you reconnect the battery you could follow the prodcedure properly. Any thoughts anyone. Quote
paul.h Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 When I have just done a battery disconnect/battery charge/reconnection I have opened the door after connecting the battery, got in, closed it and then started using the ignition key in the various positions/time delays and not had any bother. I have to do it this way since the car is on the drive and to leave a window or door open for a few hours has risks, although the doors are not locked. The parts diagrams do not show any obvious proximity switches so maybe they are built in to the door locks - you could try closing one with a screwdriver in the latch and see if this lets the car think the door is closed. However, somebody on the site will probably know. Quote
coastline taxis Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Did you check the earths for the other faults that youve got listed. as the car has told you that its a voltage/charging issue and if the bsi isnt getting its proper voltage then youl be on till doomsday looking for faults that arnt there. Also your car has the can bus system have you fitted anything recently stereo/phone/ipod etc etc. Quote
ivorcitroen Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 First thanks to paul h i will test your suggestions. also thanks to coastline for reply, i did say in a previous post that i had removed and cleaned 6 earths in the engine bay i will do more when i get time. I must admit it is definitely worth doing, all the earths looked clean from the top but when taken off there was a dusty residue underneath and on one of them part of the insulation on the wire was trapped underneath, probably been like that since the car was made. At the moment what's happening is the same thing, service light comes on etc.so the doors won't lock when parking. But iv'e found if when stopped i turn the ignition off and then straight back on(so engine does not stop)the service light goes out and i can lock the doors,(not a cure but makes it usable). any further developments i will put in the original post. ivorcitroen Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 Ps on the above post(it won't let me edit) there is what looks like a hands free phone ie microphone on windscreen speaker in footwell it was activated by accident once and someone from trafficmaster asked what the problem was. also there are reversing sensors which don't come as standard on an 05 vtr but these seem to work fine, but are of course connected to rear speakers, had this car about 6 months before this problem started these items were already fitted when bought. ivorcitroen Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 Re:door switch, tried lifting the door handle putting a screwdriver in the latch(Paul h)then moving it round to see if it makes curtesy light go out and it does. So it looks like if you want to do battery dis/reconnection and can't get your window down you could use this method. Quote
paul.h Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Thankyou for the reply, I have noted the door latch in the bsi reset procedure pinned post as an alternative to opening the window. Quote
