sandram Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 7years ago i bought my citroen c8, paying 18000e, about 6months later the anti pollution fault came on and im having endless trouble with since . ive replaced the fuel pump costing 1250e, a year later the timing belt snapped costing 1980e. since then ive replaced the clutch and pressure plate, new fuse box, fuel pressure control solonoid , air flow meter new harness, particulat filter. 2 cans of celine salution. the automatic door wont work, heaters dont work ..my car is now parked up as it stalls loosing power revs drop, the garage charged me 700e and told me that the heater plugs are causing this anti pollution fault and power loss, they will not carry out this job as it appears that the heater plugs are very difficult to remove, so i have to take it to a specialist garage but the cost of this will cost me an additional 2000e because apparently its a fault in this engine when removing the heater plugs they break, anyone else have this problem, surely if this is so citroen should take some responsibility . i have contacted citroen and explained my frustration , as a good will gesture they have offered me a 500e voucher towards the cost of a new citroen car, WOW. THANK YOU BUT NO THANK YOU.... never again will i buy a citroen, any ideas please ,,,, Quote
paul.h Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Welcome to the forum. A bit more information please,- how many miles/km has the car done- which engine does it have- was the air flow meter replaced or just the wiring harness- is it the heater plugs (glow plugs) or the fuel injectors that need replacing (removal of these is a specialist job and they can break - it has been on this forum before)- what is wrong with the heaters - does the blower work, can the air temperature be increased and decreased- is the engine fault light on and if so have the fault codes been read and can you list them here Quote
Randombloke Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 never again will i buy a citroen, any ideas please ,,,,Sounds like you've been abused by a main dealer, and need to search out a good independent. Quote
sandram Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 citroen c8 2ltr hdi89000milesheater plugs apparently gone warning light antipollution fault, unblock diesel filter, but that has been changed already ,its continues to flash and been told its a process of elimination and costing alot of money, faults have been reset but a day later same fault shows, car is loosing power and revs Quote
paul.h Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I am not sure that the heater plugs - glow plugs - would cause a fault if not working, I would have thought they would just make it difficult to start in cold weather. And if they are staying on then possibly they could be disconnected. Perhaps somebody else will comment on this. We really need the fault codes. If you are having to pay somebody to read/delete these each time then consider buying a code reader, they are not expensive (about £20 upwards) and if you get one that does some live data it improves its use. As an example http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_GCR25.html To check sensors, etc though will require a Citroen dealer type Lexia. Also if you give your location another member may be able to read the codes for you. As for the process of elimination, are you using a Citroen dealer and has the air flow sensor been replaced ?
