My name is James as you may have guessed from my user name, i drive a 2008 C5 VTR+ 1.6 (110) HDi in Arctic Silver current Model, love the car, i baught the Lexia 3 set up and works great on it as i have been tinkering with it to see what i can do and from what i can tell there is the possibility of some nice upgrading i can do, went for the C5 as i like the look of it since i first saw one and it hasnt dissapointed me yet! Spec is great and my personal opinion one of the best cars in its class.

So hello to all

Welcome to the forum.

It is recommended to keep up with engine oil/filter changes since the 1.6 hdi has a history of turbo failures. It will have a service recommendation of every year or 12500 miles if sooner where other size engines tend to be every 2 years or 20000 miles.

Thanks paul, got mine set for every 12500 max.as i do mostly motorway, only thing i get is dpf fault which has caused limp mode, also a wee cough every now and then (rare) but think its dpf

Just tried your user name in eurocarparts as a car reg and it comes back as a 1.6 hdi 2008 C5, so now understand your first line.

How many miles has it done, just thinking about the dpf ? On the occassional cough I have sometimes thought about the fuel filter or water in it.

The car Maintenance book has the oil spec. Ours has for the HDI 1.3, 1.4, 1.6, 2.0, 2.2 and V6 engines Total Activa/Quartz INEO ECS 5W-30 oil and ACEA C2 spec as first choice or C3 and PSA spec B71 2290. These will be low saps (low sulfated ash, phosphorus-sulfur) oils, full synthetic, suitable for the exhaust particle filter.
