dispatchdan Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Ok hope someone can help have some issues with a 2009 2.0 hdi dispatch vanThe engine went bang dropped a valve on no.3 so I sourced a engine from the breakers put it in started up with original fuel lines wiring harness etc has got new turbo on and new starter. When the van is running it runs fine when it's been running it starts fine. But leave it over night and it will not start literally an hour with jump leads and consistent cranking to get it going. So have tried the followingChecked timing okChecked for air locks okChanged starter motor okChanged battery okChecked inlet sideChecked exhaust for blockage okChanged cam shaft position sensor okChanged crank shaft position sensor okChanged filter housing okHeater plugs okHas anybody got any ideas ?When it cranks it blows out smoke rich unbunburnt diesel smoke, eventually when it does start from cold it fires more and more each time till it will just about run then blows rich unburnt fuel smoke out and will eventually clear and run sweet. Leave it over night and its just the same again. It doesn't appear to have a electric lift pump for priming the fuel just a hand primer! Please any advice would be appreciated Quote
paul.h Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Welcome to the forum. You seem to have checked all the obvious things. How many miles had the replacement engine done, maybe a compression test may show if it is worn out. Are the glowplugs getting hot, are the fuel injectors leaking, do you need to prime the fuel filter in the morning ? You have not mentioned if the engine management light comes on but ideally a diagnostic check or even a code reader that does live data may help - first you could check what it shows for the coolant temperature in case it is faulty. dispatchdan Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 The temperature sensor reads fine and I have tried swopping this over, the heater relay clicks in and the heater plugs glow red. The replacement engine is meant to have done 70,000 The bit I can't understand it runs perfect when it runs. There is no diagnostic trouble codes. Any more ideas would be appreciated Dan Quote
coastline taxis Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 sounds like injector problems they could be leaking back. Once the van has started itl run perfect. does it start 1st turn of the key or do you have to crank it a bit to get it going Quote

paul.h Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 The original poster has not been back since 22nd November 2013 so unfortunately we do not know what happened with this and no point wasting any more time on the topic. Quote
