herrsandher Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Hello! I just bought a C5 HDI200 Tourer -13 with electric seats and memory for the driver´s seat. According to the manual, I should be able to recall my favourite position with a simple push at button 1 (which I dedicated for my settings, and number 2 for my wife) when the vehicle is stationary. That works fine. But when I am driving, for example on the highway, and I find out that someone (my wife) has changed the settings, I should be able to long press button 1 to recall my settings. That was the thing with my Skoda Superb that I traded for the C5 and it worked like a charm. But in the C5 it doesn´t work! Nothing happens, no matter how long I press button 1 (or 2 for that sakes). Does anybode else have this problem? Please tell me if I have missed something here. / André, Sweden Quote
qman3428 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 The electric seat auto position doesnt work when the car is moving, because it is a safety issue. The seat can be adjusted maunally using the controls. Quote
herrsandher Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Hm, no, it can´t be that way... This is what the instructions says: (This is copied from the English version, but the Swedish manual says exactly the same) Recall of a memorised driving position: Vehicle stationary (ignition on or engine running)Press briefly on button 1 or 2 to recall the corresponding memorised position. The completion of the adjustments is confirmed by a sound signal. Vehicle in motion:Keep button 1 or 2 pressed downto recall the corresponding memorised position. Can they really give that wrong instructions to people? This was an important thing to me, as I used it really often in my Skoda... :( Quote
qman3428 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I can only tell you that is how mine work Quote
paul.h Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Welcome to the forum herrsandher. A quick look at the English version of the handbook on the service.citroen site for the latest one from 1/6/2012, on page 63 only mentions recalling a stored position for ignition on or engine running. Quote
herrsandher Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Aha, I understand that qman3428 ;-)Thank you, paul.h, nice to be on the forum :-) I still think it´s strange, because I bought the car all new just a week ago, and the handbook that comes with my car should be the newest one, don´t you think? Could it be that they can activate this function at the dealer maybe? It is pretty useless if I have to pull over and park everytime I want to recall my memorised settings. :PAnyway, thank you for your answers! Quote
seefive Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I'd say it's highly dangerous to recall a memory whilst moving - imagine selecting one which moved you back and your feet couldn't reach the pedals! Quote
herrsandher Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 But why would I program the seat to be in a position where I can not reach the pedals..? I have of course programmed the button to memorise the perfect settings for me, and like it says in the instructions, the button is supposed to be pressed down for a little while so one can not recall it by mistake. coastline taxis Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 When they make the instruction manual they do a one covers all regardless of wether your car has that spec or not. Plug it into lexia and enable it and itl do what you want it to do. I think its down to just generation money for the dealers and thats why it isnt activated when you buy them and its not just that function that is switched off theres quite a few. Quote
herrsandher Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Now that's the kind of answer I was looking for! Maybe that is also why my car doesn't have that nice looking orange ambient light above the glove box that Citroen bragged about in the catalogue? Anyway, I will contact my dealer to (hopefully) get this seat memory problem solved. Thank you! Quote
seefive Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 But why would I program the seat to be in a position where I can not reach the pedals..? I have of course programmed the button to memorise the perfect settings for me, and like it says in the instructions, the button is supposed to be pressed down for a little while so one can not recall it by mistake. If someone messes around with the memory setting (when it's in for a service maybe) and you push the button while moving, it could be a disaster. I too have a 2013 exclusive with the memory function - very nice feature, but (correctly) only works when the car is stationary. BTW I have the "mood lighting" which works fine. You should have 2 yellow lights in the centre , in front of the front courtesy lights, also the door handles have red illumination - another nice touch Quote
herrsandher Posted December 10, 2013 Author Posted December 10, 2013 Ok, it gives me a little comfort to hear that you have the same problem (although it´s not a problem for you ;-)) I also have the 2 lights in the roof and the door handles, very cosy. But I don´t have the light above the glove box. Maybe it´s different for different countrys. Quote
seefive Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 ok - now we agree to disagree on the seat memory, I'm still intrigued by this mystery light above the glove box. Where is it? Do you have a picture? Quote
herrsandher Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 No, I saw it in a russian (i think) review video on youtube. They said it looked very BMW-ish, and that it can be turned on and off by a button just beside the "check" button beside the steering wheel. I'll se if I can find the video clip. Quote
herrsandher Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 I found the video now. It was spanish, not russian! Look at 6:46 and you will see the nice dashboard light. Quote
seefive Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 OK - this is a 2012 model - sharper chevrons on the front - so they's probably dropped that feature... Quote
