Rock Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Hi, I have driven my German C4 Picasso (2007) back to the UK and am about to arrange for it to be MOTed and made UK road legal. What will the 'road legal' part involve? I realise the headlights will have to be seen to, but does this involve a complete replacement, or the fitting of a lens kit or something? Anything else need changing (possibly the rear fog light??) Fortunately the speedo and odomoter can be changed from KPH to MPH in the international settings easily. Any advice gratefully received. Cheers Rock Quote
paul.h Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 The MOT test guide is available on-line http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/index.htm It gives for the rear fog light it has to be in the centre or off-side. On head lamp aim 1.8 it says masks can be used on cars for right hand drive provided they are securely attached. Quote

Rock Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the replies. I was not so worried about the MOT (which is not acceptable anyway for getting a Mutual Recognition Certificate from the Vehicle Certification Agency). What they need is the Certificate of Conformity (which I have), and a garage invoice and receipts to show that the headlights, speedo, and rear fog-light are all UK compliant. I have now found their Application form, with the Guidance Notes: http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@motor/documents/digitalasset/dg_071776.pdf Interestingly, they say that 'Stickers, beam benders / deflectors are NOT acceptable. Headlights must be either replaced, or be adjustable to dip to the left, or be original flat-beam headlights (whatever that is).Cheers Rock Edited March 1, 2014 by Rock Quote
paul.h Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 There is another current topic on moving a 2010 C4 car from the UK to elsewhere in Europe about changing from mph to kph. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/21146-miles-to-kilometer-change/?do=findComment&comment=76725Flat beam lights are probably ones that do not kick up at one side to light the side of the road.
