Hi all from Kings Lynn....

Owned two ZX's, one petrol, one diesel and a Zantia estate diesel. had a few other makes since but wish to buy a C4.

I want a Grand but the other half thinks the 5 seater is smaller and easier to park and drive because its smaller.

am i right in thinking the grand is just bigger boot wise...eg...gain two seats without the rear end slant??

still want a grand tho lol

no offence but i hope not to have to use this forum for anything more than a bulb change lol, the Citroens i have had in the past have been excellent cars...but is there anything i should look out for when i go to buy one please. i have heard the auto has a few niggles but other than that, all seems good news  :D

going for a manual diesel about 07 plate...seen one for £4880 but dont want to dive in without a bit of 'insider info'

Regards to all...Rob

Welcome to the forum.

First thing, you may be best to avoid a 1.6 hdi since these are prone to turbo failure and for one about 7 years old and maybe 60k miles it is probably only a question of time before it would need one. If it did fail then as a minimum a new turbo would be needed, at worst an engine so any fuel economy savings are insignificant compared to potential costs. Also the 1.6 hdi has a more frequent service interval - 12500 miles vs 20000 for other engines (or 2 years if sooner).

We had a 1.6 hdi 2008 hatchback and that was no bother up to 46k miles when we changed it. There are some things to watch for on the C4 Technical section, pinned Common Problems post. There was a facelift end of 2008 and the fuel economy improved but I do not know if this applied to the Picasso version. However, equipment levels were reduced - e.g. the aircon became manual on all but the top range cars, lower profile wheels were also only on the top range cars but since the tyres are expensive this is a good thing. Check if the car has a normal spare wheel.

If you are going for the Picasso version, have a look/join the Picasso forum, there is a link to it from the home page.

You can see the handbooks on the service.citroen site, documentation de bord, select language, then click on the relevant car and year.http://service.citroen.com/ddb/

I don't know about the standard Picasso, but the Grand Picasso doesn't have a spare wheel. Only a repair aerosol.

Cheers john and all, steep learning curve
