Parkesie Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 My front left hand suspension unit has developed a leak from under the bellows. Suspect seals have gone anyone had to change one of these yet and any idea where to get one? Also how much? Quote
Johndouglas Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Is it a leak or just misting? Mine always needs a wipe down before MOT otherwise the tester puts on an advisory about it. Quote
Parkesie Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Definitely leaking as in dripping into the wheel. Quote
paul.h Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 The strut part no. may be 5271 L5From the citroencarparts.net site the price is £191.52 plus £6.02 for the seal (527215) to the sphere. This is a lot less than one for a mark 2 C5, about £330 a couple of years ago when I needed one from the dealer. Replacement is a bit more complicated than the mark 2 since the drive shaft has to be disconnected from the hub - about 2 hours whereas the mark 2 was less than 1 hour. Quote
paul.h Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 You may need to read my post again since I have edited it to include labour. Quote
Parkesie Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Not had a proper look at removal yet but didnt look like youd need to remove the drive shaft. Quote
paul.h Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 This is from the Citroen service box procedure. Possibly when the strut is lowered the drive shaft may be in the way. coastline taxis may have done one and if so should be able to give the easy way to do it. Quote
Parkesie Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 Just a little update after cycling the suspension a few times and cleaning everything up the leak appears to have stopped. Will keep an eye on it though. Quote
