Welcome to the forum.

I have slightly edited your post to include the info from your other similar post and deleted that one to avoid double posting/replies.

It may just be a coincidence the white smoke happening just after filling up. Is the engine management fault warning light showing and apart from idling does the car run normally ? Was the fuel from a dodgy petrol station ?

Thoughts are

- a bad batch of diesel, may be some petrol in it and maybe water in it - you could try draining the diesel filter.

- an air leak - check all the hoses around the engine for holes/splits/ loose fitting or come off.

- failure of the glow plugs but they should not really be needed unless a cold day.

- a fuel injector fault.

- head gasket failure and the white smoke is steam from coolant entering a cylinder - check the coolant level.

- turbo failure - when the one on our Saab petrol failed the car was surrounded by white smoke.

- high engine oil level so it is going in to the combustion.

- temperature sensor fault.

- on the maf sensor - I have read that if it is unplugged the car will go in to limp mode, throw up a fault code, but if it runs better then it could be faulty. You may then have a fault code that needs erasing so may need a code reader if going to do this.
