chris999 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I came back to my 2002 C8 yesterday it wouldn't start. Engine turns but won't start Central locking does not work.Dash displays don't work. No hazard lights. Radio does work (although that's not original) We had it converted to LPG (6 years ago) as you turn key the LPG fuel level indicator goes on but then off. ADAC (the german version of the AA) found a fuse that was dead. Replaced it. Now side lights work permanently when key turned (don't know what or how long that fuse was dead). Other than that he couldn't understand it. My usual garage ... trustworthy .. worked on it yesterday. They are somewhat at a loss. All I can think is when I got in to start it my mind was all over the place (thinking about other problems) and I may have done everything all at once.(turn key, close doors, lights, clutch, gears)I did think I'd caused an immobiliser fault ... went through a reset routine that didn't work, but as AA pointed out the hazard lights would still work Any ideas would be appreciated (other than it knows the last credit payment goes out next month so has died!) paul.h Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Welcome to the forum. As well as normal fuses Citroen fit maxi fuses, often these are hidden in the engine fuse box under the top layer of fuses. It may be one of these has failed. Quote
chris999 Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 Between the garage and adac I think they are the most checked fuses in the world!!!! There were indeed though some hidden, hard to get to, ones as you suggest but all checked OK. I spoke to the garage and if I understand the German right. They seem to think there are some cables that have fuses within them which they are going to try and test later today. Quote
coastline taxis Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Did any of them plug a diagnostic tool in and see what codes are present Quote
chris999 Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 I didn't ask but I know they have one and it's usually the first thing they do every time the car is there (not least to clear the anti-pollution fault light!!!!!!). It either didn't come up with anything or that's not working either Quote
paul.h Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Have you tried the spare key in case it is a key communication problem. On Citroens the steering column lighting unit (comms 2000 unit) has the remote receiver and works the lights. However, I would have thought a diagnostic check with the right equipment should find a problem with this. Has the garage checked for petrol in the tank and the fuel pump is running and has the garage tried to start the car using easystart - assuming the petrol system is still on the car ? The dash displays may be off if the car is in eco mode and if so this will work again when the engine runs but this should not affect the hazard lights. Quote
