Hello all

Bit of advice needed

I've been offered a 2007 C5 2.0hdi exclusive automatic---2007---124,000miles

Full main dealer stamped service history

Car looks like new---nicely finished --good bodywork

Had a test drive @ 10miles on my own --so no dealer hassle!

Drives like a dream---beautiful--tight---no obvious problems

I'd be getting a 3 month warranty and @ 9mths MOT

Is there anything i should check or be concerned about?

What are Citroen auto gearboxes like-=--reliable?

Would the mileage be an issue? ---I'd only be adding @ 10000 miles per year at most

I suppose overall the question is---Could I reasonably expect @ 3 yrs reliable motoring as things stand?---by which time thered be @ 155,000 on the clock ---Then i'm not really fussed how it performs--it'll have done its time with me!

Any advice appreciated

Many thanks

Vic

hello and welcome to the forum.

The car sounds good. The only concern id have is the gearbox as there not the best in the world weve had 2 autos first one the box died at 120k the second one was sold to a member on here with 156k on it and is still going strong (was just talking to him last month). the only maintanence difference was the second one went to the dealers every year for a gearbox oil change and only had one driver from when we got it.  we now tend to avoid auto simply because of the mpg and IF they do go wrong there a pain and expensive to get fixed.

With the car having full dealer history ask them to check if the gearbox oil has been changed regulary. If it has id probally give it a go. If not then id walk away

Thanks for reply

Im impressed by the car BUT yip -- the auto box does concern me a bit -- offset by a full dealer history which reassures me--a bit~!!--Of course if we lived in other countries we wouldnt even be considering anything other than an auto box

The mileage while high doesnt really bother me as i know some of these engines do 'moon miles' A friend has one with 298,000 miles and still in daily use

thanks

It is also about the mileage for the exhaust dpf and eolys fluid needing servicing - fluid topping up and dpf replacing/cleaning - so check this in the service records. Otherwise allow a few £100.

Also have a look in the C5 Technical section at the list of Common Problems pinned post for some things to check.
