I seem to have trouble parking the car near the curb, I have to look in my wing mirror and reverse as I can not see the curb in front, any idea how I can improve this.

The C5 is not the easiest of cars to park due to its size, the windscreen pillars being large and rounded at the lower corners, the lack of shapes on the bonnet giving reference points. As well as using the door mirror I will get a passenger to open their door to check the kerb distance.

The door mirror may be a self indexing one that turns down to show the kerb when reversed is selected - if so it needs the mirror selector door switch moving across to the left mirror and leaving there. If not then this can be done manually by selecting the mirror and adjusting its position with the arrow buttons on the switch. It will be somewhere in the handbook.

The other thing to try is park the car near to the kerb, then sitting in your normal position, look for something on the car such as a wiper arm that is in line with you and the kerb at the point where you can first see it in front of the car. Then when parking use this reference point.

Thanks for all advise, it is mainly when I park outside my house but what I find works is I drive if possible just past my house and then look in the mirror I can see the curb and reverse back.

I park on the right hand side of the road, this being a service road in a small square of 7 houses.

The self indexing of the passenger mirror comes with the parking assistance pack which was available on the mark 1 and 2 C5s (as well as C4). It also includes the auto folding door mirrors and auto rear view mirror and rear parking sensors plus on the mark 2 front parking sensors. On the mark 1 it was standard on the exclusive and on the mark 2 standard on the exclusive, an option on the VTR and VTX.

Hmm - the auto dip of the nearside mirror is NOT on my 2013 exclusive with "parallel park assist" ( a useless feature that supposedly measures available gaps). I had it on my Mk2 exclusive, and I do miss it.

Another little cost cut from Citroen - also don't have a warning light for washer fluid level , and the automatic rear view mirror has no manual option . Both these features were on the Mk2

Overall Mk3 has a far better spec though, but these little ommissions are annoying..
