voguev8 Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 HiMy 2002 HDI has been perfect for the past 6 months. But noticed over the past week or so when I put key in ignition and before the starter turns the fuel pump sounded rough.Yesterday took nearly 10 minutes before it would start and this morning no start.Noticed could not hear any priming sound so would assume the lift pump has stopped working.Due to previous noisy priming, I would assume need new pump. Is the pump in the tank and how easy is it to get to and change, any special precautions in the changeThanks Quote
paul.h Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 From a previous post your car is a 2002 2.0 hdi 110 bhp. A look on eurocarparts shows a new tank pump/level sender is from £82 to £152 (but you should check using your car reg). Changing it should not be difficult since it is accessed from under the rear seat by removing a round plastic cover, remove the electrical connector and fuel pipes, note any location markings, undo the retaining ring and then lift it out. Refitting should be a reverse. It may pay to check the fuel filter is not full of metal bits from the tank pump. Quote
voguev8 Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 HiThanks- I ordered a new pump with sender unit, a new sealing ring and gasket. I managed to undo the old ring quite easily this evening, so now just wait for the new bits to arrive. Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Dont leave the ring off for to long as the circle has been known to oval off and make it a proper pig to get the ring to screw down again Quote
