LongChop Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Hello, I have a Citroen C8 2006 2.0 petrol model and am having problems trying to find parts to replace the exhaust and was wondering if anyone would be able to advise me. The part that needs to be replaced is the catalytic converter section as the bracket has snapped that attaches to the car. The problem I am having is that it seems to be different from what is suggested when putting in my registration from looking over the internet and I had a garage look at it as well and they got the parts that should go on the car but they were different. The main difference is the bracket that attaches from the cat part to the car and I can't seem to find it from pictures on the internet. Has the incorrect part been fitted to the car and if that is the case how would it be able to fit with the different bracket mounting to the underneath of the car. Should I just get a complete exhaust system that is meant to fit the car and refit the lot or would this not work as need the same as it has now? I have taken a pic of the bracket part I have held up with some wire at the moment. I can't upload the file as it is giving me an error so have link it to an image hosting site. http://tinypic.com/r/mcylis/8 Appreciate any help. Many thanks Kevin Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 This website of any help? http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/details/CITROEN/C8/2.0/2006/__/129/180804/exhaust-part/ Quote
LongChop Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 Thank you for the reply it doesn't seem to have the bracket that attaches to the car at the cat part like in the pic. Unless this is just not shown on the diagram. I have seen this diagram when searching before. Quote
paul.h Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Welcome to the forum. The best thing to do will be to look at the Citroen parts diagrams using your VIN (VIS). This is a free service on the service.citroen site. You need to register as another professional, member of the Citroen Owners Club.http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres A quick look using the 2.0 petrol, but possibly the wrong bhp, gives part no 1705 PE for a manual and 1705 PF for an automatic - but the picture does not show the triangular bracket. But if checking without a specific engine (since I do not know your VIN), the EW10A engine (with a transverse rear silencer) exhaust cat/front section (part no. 1731LR) does have a bracket on the cat section with 2 arms on it that hook in to a mounting. This engine with a longitudinal rear silencer has a different part no. If this part is not available in the after market then it may only be available at a dealer. It is possible an aftermarket one would just have the 2 arms without the triangular section. If this is the part no then from a dealer it may be around £450 based on a check on this site http://www.citroencarparts.net/?s=1731LR Quote
LongChop Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Thank you for the reply Paul very helpful I wasn't aware I could enter my vin number to find parts. I have had a quick look and I think I can see the part it looks a little different though looks as though they might have changed the bracket slightly. Thanks for the help Quote
paul.h Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Using your VIN the cat comes out at Citroen part no. 1706E7 and under characteristics it has the exhaust with a longitudinal rear silencer. The cat section is £704 from this site http://www.citroencarparts.net/?s=1706E7 You could possibly try for a used one at a breakers or for an aftermarket one - but make sure you quote the Citroen part no. to get the right one. I would also consider repairing your existing one if it still met emission tests at the MOT. I have deleted your VIN for security reasons although these can be seen by anyone walking past your car from the bottom of the windscreen. Quote
