Sixchannel Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I have just parted with my much loved but very weary X plate Xantia :( and bought a 2010 C5 Tourer VTR+NAV 160.The SatNav, (MYNAV) which I just cant figure out at the moment (but I will) is loaded with previous Owners journeys and at least the first 20 show on screen. How do I reset the MyNav to zero so all his trips are deleted please? Quote
seefive Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 There's an option to delete all previous routes in the nav menu - it's all or nothing though, so save anything you need in the directory first (using the archive option when you open a route) I'll check in detail later when I'm in the car if you are having problems finding it. The Nav menu is fairly intuitive. Quote
Sixchannel Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 (edited) Hi seefiveWell I found "Reset to Factory Settings" and was a big brave boy and pressed it. It deleted the lot (!) but was surprised that it also deleted the radfio presets as well. Now the Game is -a) How to Set "Home"b) Find out how to set a route, andc) alter it if necessary. If you think I could look in the handbook, forget it - the car came without one and I have ordered one from Citroen but if the Web version is Owt to go by, I'll still be stumped.Any help always grovellingly appreciated. :)(now I know why I loved my Xantias - just start up and Go. Oh, sorry, just start up, wait half a minute, THEN Go! :D )cheerssixchannel Edited August 7, 2014 by Sixchannel Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I've recently taken on a 2010 C5 X7 VTR+ Tourer and I'm still trying to get to grips with the satnav section in the handbook. I find it terribly complicated and I find myself relying on my trusty Tomtom more and more. Quote
Sixchannel Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 I've never had a SatNav and until now relied on the BIG Philips Map Book to get me where I wanted to be.With this MYNAV, it seems just SO hard to get it to do anything I want.I can see it not being used. All it should be, IMHO, is simply1 - "where are you?" - tap in "Home" or a Post Code2 - "where do you want to go?" - tap in a Post CodeEnd of - -And what do you do if you need to go off route cos (say) the Motorway has been closed? Turn it off? Quote
seefive Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 setting a route is easy, although you can't enter a full postcode - only the first 5 characters including the space, in the "town" field. enter destination - enter addresscountrytownroadhouse number if you have to use a post code ( to find a non residential address) you can convert it to GPS coordnates ( see pinned message "useful site for sat navvers" in "General Discussions and Nonsense") and the enter the coordinates There is a very good points of interest database which you can search by category and name - shops etc all listed. For Home, I guess you enter your adrress as a destination , "archive" into the directory, and label it "home" Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 you can't enter a full postcode - only the first 5 characters including the space, in the "town" field. I discovered that just recently when I was away on holiday and entered a postcode. It eventually asked for a street name - which I didn't have. I ended up switching on my Tomtom. When I'm travelling I always use GPS coordinates but haven't managed to find out how to enter them in the C5 satnav. What's the procedure? Also do you know if it's possible to change the voice from female to male. I've nothing against being instructed by a woman - it's just that my hearing impediment picks up low male frequencies better than the higher female frequencies. Quote

Also do you know if it's possible to change the voice from female to male. When you enter a destination, you get 3 coices - enter address, enter coordinates or select from directory. Male voice is under guidance options/speech sytnthesis Quote
paul.h Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 All it should be, IMHO, is simply1 - "where are you?" - tap in "Home" or a Post Code2 - "where do you want to go?" - tap in a Post Code No need to give where you are since the sat nav knows that already provided it can see the satellites.Where do you want to go - if your home address, it may not be a good idea to give your actual house number in case the car (or a portable sat nav) is stolen - it and its occupants may get there before you. The sat nav on our 2007 C5 seems fairly easy to use, just enter an address by country, town, street (or one nearby if you are just going to that general area or the map is not up to date) and as you type in the letters it comes back with available ones. If you fail to follow the route it suggests on the way, it will calculate the revised way as you go along which takes care of motorway closures, etc. Quote
seefive Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 correction - "select male voice" is under setup/voice synthesis, not in the nav menu Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 There's an option to delete all previous routes in the nav menu - it's all or nothing though,On mine, I find I can delete previous destinations individually. High light the destination you need to delete and give the centre OK button a long press - and the destination disappears. HOWEVER . I've tried the methods you outlined in posts 8&11. On mine when I want to enter a destination, all I get for choice is CITY. When I press setup, all that shows is TIME & DATE; and a choice of Fahrenheit or Celsius. Could it be that my SD card is missing a lot of data? When I take it out it looks very much like a pirate copy. ie; just a plain Kingston SD card. Quote
seefive Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 could be yours is myway , whereas mine is emyway, also mine does not have an sd card slot - updates are via usb, no need for external feed other than updates. Sounds like yours is not right - should definitely have country, town/city then road then number. - or maybe yours brings up the road option after city, and it's UK only? ( although on emyway UK is split into england, wales, etc) Quote
Sixchannel Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 The one in my 2010 is the original 2009-2010 card - never been updated.Looks like Citroen want Eu149 for latest SD card to update my MyNav so I can imagine why it wasn't!!However, they are for sale on ebay with latest mapping for £30.cheerssixchannel Quote

The one in my car (I think) is a copy. It's just a plain Kingston SD card with I believe, a lot of the information not included. Quote
Sixchannel Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 Dont know yet - I've ordered one.If it does NOT contain ALL the data, its going back and I'll start an Ebay Case against him.I'll let you know.cheersian Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Are they originals I've emailed one of the £30 sellers this morning and he's confirmed that they are not the genuine article. That's not to say they won't work correctly. Quote

Sixchannel Posted August 13, 2014 Author Posted August 13, 2014 UPDATE - it arived today. It has the Navteq logo on the SD card, is marked 2014v1 and as far as I can tell works fine.I just imputted an address into MyNav and it asked for City, then Street and even the Post Code (which is limited to 5 characters but I can live with that) and saved it Ok into Address Book. Looks like the other functions , like map co-ords are OK too.Anything else I should try?cheerssixchannel Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 That's interesting. Will it plan a destination by using GPS coordinate? And if so will it do both Metric coordinates with five digits after the point, and also In mins, secs. Also can you see an option to change voices between male and female? Sorry for so many questions. Could you post the ebay link as well. Quote
Sixchannel Posted August 13, 2014 Author Posted August 13, 2014 This is the ebay ref -331285888103 or this may work too - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331285888103?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I can find no way to change the voice but then again I couldnt with the original chip - 2009/10.If I press the "Setup" button there is no option and in "Nav" I cant see where to find it either - and I THINK I've tried every bit of it. Any ideas?GPS? - it certainly allows Latitude and Longitude (not that I'd have a clue how to use it) Here's a photo -http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg77/Sixchannel/mynav1_zps09ab6abf.jpg Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Thank you for that. I'm beginning to think that on our Myways there not an option to change the voice from female to male. Although Seefive seems to be able to do it on his - but his doesn;t use an SD card. At least you're getting some GPS positioning,- on mine, I don't get any, but unless you have an option, it looks as though it's in mins and secs. I much prefer to use the metric choice and when I'm travelling I use it all the time. Much more precise than using a post code. OK next thing is to look at it on ebay. Thanks again. Quote
paul.h Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Just been looking in the manual for the Navidrive that came with our 2007 C5. From the overall Menu button you can select the Configuration menu. In here you can configure the voice of the navidrive with an option to choose a feminine or a masculine voice. I have not tried it yet but maybe this is how it can be done on the Myway system. Other things I have learnt is it can use post codes by entering a post code instead of the town and it can use GPS coordinates but I will have to see what type it can use - I use ordnance survey maps a lot so if it will use National Grid ones that would be good. Sixchannel Posted August 13, 2014 Author Posted August 13, 2014 Hi PaulCant see anything like that on the MyNav on the 2010 C5.I'm just getting to grips with setting destinations and for now using the Address seems to be best for me.What MyNav can't seem to do is to allow me to plot a Route. I.e. - I want to go to the Motorway en route to the destination but I KNOW that the best way to it is a certain specific way. Cant seem to tell mynav that. Should I just tell it the Destination, let it calculate the route and when I go off "its" route just ignore it until I hit the Motorway. Or will it constantly recalc where I am and tell me what I should be doing? Quote
