skenn1622 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Hi, I have a C8 o4 plate 2.0l HDI whist on holiday in Wales with wife and kids the car stopped and a immobiliser fault came up on the display, the RAC guy tested all the fuses, all good. We were towed to a garage wereb the guy said he will have a look at it so far no joy. Does anyone out there in Citroen land know what could possibly be wrong. Can it be reset or what. Please help I am at my wits end. Quote
paul.h Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 The immobiliser system includes the key, the aerial transponder at the ignition lock that detects the key, the steering wheel switch comms 2000 unit, the bsi, the engine ecu (which is electronically locked to immobilise the car), the instrument cluster. The problem could be with any of these and a diagnostic check using a Citroen Lexia is probably needed but I guess your car is not at a Citroen garage. You could try your spare key and the aerial is only a few pounds. Quote
skenn1622 Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 Hi paul h, this may sound dumb but what and where is the aerial and the steering wheel switch comms 2000 unit? The garage guy who I spoke to on Tuesday said that there is no power going to the ecu and that is why it is immobilised. Does this make sense to you as to me it is dutch. Could you please explain. paul.h Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 The lack of power to the ecu may be because the immobiliser is preventing it. The transponder aerial is a plastic shroud that goes around the ignition switch and the comms 2000 unit is the complete switch unit under the steering wheel which includes the lighting and wiper switches. To get the correct part numbers for your car needs the car VIN (VIS) in the Citroen parts diagrams which you can see as a free service on the service.citroen site after registering as another professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. If the aerial was part no. 6160C0, it would be about £4 from a Citroen dealer but others could be a bit more. coastline taxis Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Is it a citroen dealer that your using or just a general garage. Are the hazzards and interior lights working and does the ignition come on. What codes come up when it was plugged in. Citroens will slip into economy mode when cranked over for to long without starting and if your not to sure about them you could think theres no power to the ecu.list the codes that the diagnostic pulled up Quote
markpepper37 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I have just had this problem fixed at my local Citroen dealer for £78 including diagnostic it is commonly corroded earth points which are located behind the headlight and on the body itself hope this helps people. Quote
paul.h Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the info, which headlight was it ? For the dealer to find it so quickly suggests this could be a common fault so good to know and it may apply to other cars. I will pin the topic so it is not lost amongst the others. Quote
