Sixchannel Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 OK - I'm starting to get to grips with this MyNav.A few bits of terminology have me baffled and can find no expanded explanantion of what they mean - Route Options - What does the "Optimised" one do?Route Dynamics - what is the difference between Traffic Independent and Semi-dynamic? I'm hoping that the latter takes account of problems ahead and recalcs the route - and hopefully telling me WHY its doing it. We're off on hols tomorrow so will use it then. We KNOW how to get there and it will be interesting to see what happens with the Route Guidance working and me taking the "alternative" way from time to time.Wish me luck.lol!cheerssixchannel Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Route Options - What does the "Optimised" one do? Cant help you with any of these since I understand less of Myway than you do. However I use Microsoft AutoRoute for planning journeys and that has the "optimize the route" facility. What it does is look at your starting point, your destination and all the waypoints in between. "Optimize" looks at the order of the waypoints and it would stop you from retracing your steps. In other words it checks the order of your stopping places to ensure that you cover the least miles. Maybe Myway works similarly. Quote
paul.h Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 This is from the Navidrive book which may help: The 3 route options are Fastest or Shortest or Optimum distance/time relationship. So I guess the Navidrive optimum looks at how long it may take and distance and there must be a calculation to come up with a route. The Fastest I take to mean least amount of time and not the highest speed attained and Shortest to mean least distance and not time. I do not know what route dynamics means but on the Navidrive if the traffic information shows an incident on the route it can be modified to allow for it by rotating the control to select the Diversion button on the screen and then pushing the control to validate the change. Stages can also be included if you want to go somewhere on the route but it says you need to go through the stage or delete it to be able to continue beyond the stage. Quote
Sixchannel Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 I think Stages are now called Stopovers. Not sure how it works but in the next week / 10 days I hope to have sussed out more. Thanks for all the help. After my beloved Xantias there is so much technology on these mk3 C5s.CheersSixchannel Quote
