Sixchannel Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 OK- I know where I'm going, there's c--p on the radio so I want to turn that screen ( and therefore by default the Nav and radio too) OFF for the journey. Is it possible?CheersSixchannel Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 It doesn't look as though the screen will turn off - short of removing a fuse. It seems that the closest you can get to off is to release the SD card to get rid of the map and turn the radio volume to zero. I'm still trying to find an option to use a male voice for directions and an option to use metric GPS input rather than degrees, mins&secs. Quote
seefive Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 radio can be switched off - look for the standard on/off type switch, probably level with the cd slot.screen will revert to display date only (and maybe time) Quote
Sixchannel Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 AFAYK does that still allow traffic reports through? Quote
seefive Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Doubt it, as these are picked up by the radio, which needs to be on . Live traffic works through Traffic Master (TMC) and designated FM stations. But I'm not sure.. Quote
paul.h Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 You could leave the radio on but the volume set to minimum and adjust the traffic alerts volume to suit when one comes on. Quote
seefive Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Checked yesterday and the traffic system does work with the radio off ( as does the sat nav, which is needed for the emergency system) Quote
Sixchannel Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 SOLVED - BY ACCIDENT!Can't find a way of editing the Header to add "solved" so -Whilst waiting for Er 'Indoors to finish shopping i was tinkering with the buttons on the radio and guess what I found out -On a Mk3 with MyNav, long press/hold down the "Mode" button on the radio unit ( bottom row, far left). After a second or so the screen goes black. Then just Mute the radio so as to kill the "music" and still keep receiving traffic reports.Ipso Fatso!!CheersIan Quote
paul.h Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 As a moderator I have been able to edit the title. If you hold down the Mode button does the screen come back on again ? Quote
Sixchannel Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 Thanks for that.Yes it does Paul.AFAICT When you hold it down again it rapidly cycles through Nav screen and Radio screen to what ever you were on when you turned it off.CheersIan Quote
Sixchannel Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 Just a minor update to the above - if you do have the screen blacked out as above, when you turn the ignition off and then restart the car, the screen comes on as normal. If you want it off, you have to do the "Mode" longer press thing each time.cheersian Quote
paul.h Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 The navi drive on our 2007 C5 does not have a Mode button, but if the Dark button is pushed twice the screen goes off completely. Quote
Sixchannel Posted November 7, 2014 Author Posted November 7, 2014 Its even more bonkers than I thought!Do the "Mode" button thing with the cars lights off and when you turn them on, the dashlights are all fully lit, as you might expect. However, if you do it when the cars lights are ALREADY on, the dashlights go to Black Dash mode.Only Citroen could have thought that one up!Lol! paul.h Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Page 128 of a C5 handbook for 2010 gives this for the Dark button so maybe you can achieve what you want by using this: DARKShort successive presses:One press: Display of radio, time and temperature only. Two presses: Display off (blank display).Three presses: Return to the standard display.
