Sixchannel Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 HiI have recently bought a 2010 C5 VTR+NAV16O with manual box. When I accelerate through the gears, each time I get to c2000rpm, the space underneath the oil temp throws up a number. If I'm in 2nd, then its a 3, etc etc. Its as if it's "inviting" me to change up. Is that because I've reached the point of Max torque (or summat else?)or is it simply Citroen not knowing what to do with that empty space on a Manual car - I.e. information overload ;-)CheersIan Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 It's their idea to help you to drive in the most economical way. Of course, when the caravan is hitched on, it's advice is hopelessly incorrect. Quote
Sixchannel Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 You betcha, John.Coming down from West Mids to Somerset I was horrified at some of the mpg figures I was seeing when climbing eg Clevedon Hill, just after Bristol on the M5!! Teens figures often!!!!Looks better on the flat (of course) but I'm guessing that overall its not going to be anything like a economical as my old Xantia HDi 90 and she would tow our Bailey Pageant Champagne nicely at 60 and deliver good mpg. So I assume that 2000rpm is the Max torque point(ish). Quote

paul.h Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 The advice to change gear from the car is not necessarily at the max torque point since our petrol C3 also does it. It may just be when the car thinks it is fast enough to use a higher gear. Quote
Sixchannel Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 Thanks PaulFrom a towing POV- does anyone know the Max Torque rev point of the 2 Ltr 160bhp engine? Quote
paul.h Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 A 2010 sales brochure quotes 340 Nm at 2000 rpm as being the max torque and max power 120 kW at 3750 rpm. Quote
