homerv6 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) HiPut a new battery in my c3 key fob and car would not start. While replacing the battery i knocked out the little graphite? block { Shaped like sim card }. Now what do i do? Tried my mates block { Transponder? } but no joy.The central locking still works. Thanks Edited August 29, 2014 by homerv6 Quote
john h Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Cant be too far from where you did battery change, have another search Quote
paul.h Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 If you can not find it, you will need to use the spare key and then order another from Citroen. Should just be able to order a new key with it in but probably no need to have the key programmed to your car to save labour charge and just take out the chip for your old key (or put the circuit board which does the central locking from the old key in to the new one). homerv6 Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Hi againThere we hit another problem as i have only one key. I have ordered a new blank transponder chip and was hoping i could get it programmed to the car by one of these 'mileage correction' people but not sure if they do that kind of stuff. The little card you get when the car is new with the code on it i don't have either.Had a good look round but the dropped chip has probably been vacuumed up as my wife is an avid user :)As you say i might have to see Mr Citroen Sigh ! paul.h Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 If the vac has not been emptied I would be sorting through its contents. If you go to Citroen, see how much 2 keys will be so you then have a useable spare and the programming cost will be spread across the 2 keys. They will also likely need your car so it can be programmed - so there is also the problem of getting it to them without a working key. Some companies that can copy keys may need a working one to copy the code across, so without the code card your options look to be limited. If you ask Citroen though, they should provide the key code at minimal cost. To get the new keys may take some time so you could be without the car for a bit. Quote
homerv6 Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Its a puzzle too why the heater fan and wipers/washers don't work either when the indicators work fine. The other two must need the immobilizer deactivated i guess and the indicators don't. So off to citroen Mon i guess with a silly amount of readies. Teach me to be more careful :( Thanks a lot Quote
