Hi I now have two mk1 c5 exclusive's (make your own minds up lol) I am getting even more confused about what the suspension is suppose to do, what does yours do when you unlock it get out open boot etc? Not sure if it makes any difference but one is a 2003 and the other a 2004 with the sport suspension.

On ours, when the car is unlocked with the remote, it will adjust its height unless the battery is flat. When you get in, it will adjust the height back to level once the door is closed. If you open the tailgate and get some stuff out, the height will adjust back to level once the door is closed. So, with a door open, if a weight is added or removed the car height changes down/up but then once the door is closed it will adjust back to level using the pump if needed. It may be a bit different if the engine is running.

Hi thanks for reply,on my 2.2 when I unlock it the back rises and when I turn engine off the back drops straight away it is like the car thinks the boot is open? The back does not drop when boot is open even with engine running?

I park with the nose against a wall. When I go into reverse to move away from the wall then all is normal but when I then put it into D to go forward the back seems to go down a bit. Is this normal?

The LDS suspension fluid is pumped from a tank on the right wing to the front and rear struts to maintain the car's height. To check its level in the tank the car should be lowered to minimum height, the engine switched off, the tank cap carefully removed since there will be some air pressure to release and then the fluid level should be just covering the bottom of the filler neck. If the level is low it should only be topped up using fresh LDS fluid, a Citroen dealer will sell it for around £11 a litre. You can do a quick check for leaks by looking at the front struts through the wheel arches and at the rear ones by looking under the car.
