Hi all

I'm having an issue with my 2008 C5, when it rains the water gets in around the driver side foot well and before I know it the whole floor of the car is soaking. I went to the garage with it when I first noticed it and they said the gulley was blocked. They cleaned it and I got it back and it was fine for a week or two. Now its worse then ever, ive been told that there is a part missing and I need two new parts to get it fixed. I rang the main dealers and it's going to cost upwards of 200 euro to get sorted. Usually it wouldn't be an issue but I've just had to get the front window regulators replaced and that's cost another small fortune.

I was wondering if anyone else had an issue like this, im looking for a quick fix. Every morning I go to the car now the windows are cover in condensation and it takes 15 mins to clear, the smell of dampness aswell is really bad.

Hopefully there is an easy way to fix, hopefully some one can help.

Thanks

Robert

Hi Paul

It is the new shape, right hand drive. The windscreen was never replaced. I was told it was missing one of the gulleys that the water runs into. After a heavy rain there is maybe 2 -3 mm of water in the drivers side, carpets in the back do be soaking and passenger side is damp.

Hi Robbie,

Sorry this reply came a bit late. I had the same problem as you ever since I bought a 2nd hand c5 (2008) in 2013. The problem lies with the drainage being choked by leaves/crap that falls through the plastic guard under the wiper. The issue can be fixed by yourself.

Just need to

1) remove the wipers,

2) remove the plastic cover under the wipers (whatever its called)

3) remove the wiper motor

4) dig and clear out the junk that's trapped and clogged up the drain hole small hole with a rubbery flap under the wiper motor

5) replace everything back

For me, the issue was aggravated by the white foam/mesh (that was supposed to filter the cabin air intake) breaking off and covering the drain hole and further trapped the rotten leaves that fell through plastic guard under the wiper. I suppose a way to solve the issue permanently is to install a finer insect mesh under the plastic guard to prevent leaves from falling through. Havent got around to it though.

Hope this helps the rest who had the same issue.

Dosnt sound like your water ingress problem is the same as mine was but ill stick mine up as it may help someone.

The door drain holes had blocked causing the door to fill with water that found a hole in the plastic lining and soaked the rear footwells.

The Xsara Picasso suffered with rain getting through the back doors and in to the rear footwells and collecting in the cupboards under them. Here I think the fix was to make sure the plastic lining was fastened/sealed to the door. Ours would fill up only at the right side but it was not getting in through the door, it seemed to come from the front and I never managed to fix it but left the floor drain plugs out.
