Having just joined, I would like to introduce myself to all members of the Citroen Owners Club. I have had a ZX 1993 Aura Diesel for over 10 years now and still love the car for it's style, simplicity and reliability. Modern cars in general, seem to me, to be too high on the road, especially at the rear, and just don't seem to have the style of the older models. New cars are great, but all their electronics frightens me. I suppose at 70 I'm getting too old to be tuning engines and now have a preference for simple mechanical components! Whilst my car is 22 years old, I think that I will be keeping it and just replace parts as they fail me, keeping the cost of motoring down. The car was registered in Europe and is a left hand drive. I have two problems I can't yet resolve, one is the driver's window which stopped working and the other is the rear windscreen wiper motor which has packed in. If anyone knows where I can buy parts for this model of car, I would be really grateful if they could let me know?

Well, happy motoring to everyone and have a nice week.

Regards to all,

LoMi (Mike - UK)

Welcome to the forum.

ebay is a good place to try for parts from breakers, as an example this car is being broken so may be able to provide the wiper motor http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-ZX-1996-1-9D-automatic-WHEEL-NUT-BREAKING-CAR-FOR-PARTS-/251677245447?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a99220007 There is a wiper motor here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-Citroen-ZX-Rear-Wiper-Motor-1991-gt-1998-VALEO-53201802-95656576-/251664390999?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 Your wiper motor may have seized, the brushes may have worn out, there may be a wiring fault, the fuse may have gone. Check the wiring where it goes between the hatch door and body (if it is a hatchback or estate) in case it has broken. You can also try a direct 12 volt supply to the motor to see if it will run.

If the window is electric, then the wiring may have broken between the door and door pillar. You could remove the door card/trim and see if the motor is getting a 12 volt supply, if not check for any fuses, then try the wiring, then the switch and also a direct supply to the motor to see if it works.

Thanks for reply. My problem now seems to be finding part numbers for this LH Drive Citroen ZX Aura 1993. I bought a maintenance manual but unfortunately it doesnt have part numbers. Is there any way to find them out? Would really appreciate your help. LoMi (Mike)

Join www.service.citroen.com then you can enter your VIN and find out all about your particular car. Also you will see all the parts with their Citroen part numbers. Enrol as another professional and member of Citroen Owners Club.

Thanks, the internet cannot find www.service.citroen.com but it can find www.service-citroen.com. however there is nowhere to enter VIN (excuse my ignorance but what is VIN?) I would like to find the part numbers as you indicated, but am not having any success on either citroen url's. Any advice? Mike

VIN is the vehicle identification number which is allocated to every vehicle. It will be on your V5 and also stamped into the bodywork of the car. Maybe along the top edge of the engine bay after you've lifted the bonnet. On later vehicles it can be seen along the lower edge of the windscreen. You're looking for a 17 digit combination of letters and figures and being a Citroen will begin with VF7.

You're right - I should have written www.service-citroen.com

Hi Mike

I have a 93 ZX diesel that had a 'meeting' with a deer last week and I need some replacement plastic bits to fit my newly acquired headlamp unit.

Did you manage to find a good source for bits in the end???

Cheers
