So am I correct in saying that the MAF housing in picture 2 contains both the MAF sensor and the Air Intake Temperature sensor?  As when I have removed the housing and looked inside I can see two measuring devices.  And the plug connector has 5 connections

goose if you give me the number of you mass airflow il see if ive got one i can pop in the post for you. If you can screenshot live data and post on here one.   need one with engine cold and ticking over then at 3000rpm. second one with engine at normal temp again ticking over and another at 3000rpm. so thats 4 shots in total. What part of the uk are you

Yes that is a good idea, I need to re install Lexia on another laptop, as the screen has died on my laptop.  But its defo worth trying another maf unit, as if it cures the problem I will go out and buy one.!

Goose im looking at the photo of your engine. Bottom right of the pic youve got a solenoid ( orange multiplug) if you follow the vacum piping from it as it goes over the engine theres a rubber join in it. Check the join or if you can replace the pipe for a complete one as that could be your problem if its losing vacum as it dosnt look the best of joints

That pipe connection must have been modified on later cars, it is different in this picture from our 2004 mark 1 C5 2.2 hdi and looks as if the pipe connects to the vacuum pump via a connector. This could be related to your turbo boost problems.
