Grandc4 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Hello, been a while since I posted here! Hope your all ok. I remember john and Paul of the top of my head. Basically I was driving along, esp light flashes up saying it is faulty and the light stays on. The engine light also came on and said a repair is needed. I tried pushing the button for the Esp but it woulbt do anything so I turned car off and on and the ESP button now works but the engine light comes on and says fault need repairing. No sign of ESP faulty now. Going to try book it in next week but any idea if it could be big problem? Sounds like it :( It's a diesel too add Quote
paul.h Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 It could be anything that affects the exhaust emissions. Only way to find out is to use a code reader and it may just be a low cost sensor that has failed. I think the ESP works from the abs system as well as the speedo and steering angle so the 2 faults could be related. It is worth having an engine fault code reader since they do not cost much and one giving live data does not cost much more than a basic one, as an example http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html Quote
Grandc4 Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 Hmm okay thankyou, I was driving home last night and I had to break sharpishx my esp light came on and my car lost a lot of power. I could put my foot down an it would hardly move! Once I stopped and turned car off and on again it drove fine. I left car on drive over night an this mornin no lights came on inc no engine light. Weird... Quote
john h Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Is there something about a fuel shutoff in event of a collision, may it have been activated by violent braking ? just a thought Quote
Grandc4 Posted December 19, 2014 Author Posted December 19, 2014 Okay bloke at garage done a check with his machine. Was low fuel pressure. Another problem iv just noticed which has only happend since we got car back ( could be co incidence) but when we turn our fan on to hear us up when we turn it on full it makes a deep humming noise :/ Quote
paul.h Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Was anything done to fix the low fuel pressure ? For the humming noise - have a look at the air inlet and the pollen filter in case they are blocked/have leaves in them. Quote
Grandc4 Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 No :/ the lights had gone off and that etc, and he just said it's nothing to worry about. You probably got some muck into it. Which a few weeks ago I let my diesel get a bit too low so i was just thinking it was that? But no he done nothing.Ok I'll have a look. Should be easy access I suspose Quote
