My daughter has a 2010 C3 Picasso and we thought it was such a great little car my wife and I just bought a new one!

However, this morning my daughter was pulled over by the police and told that it was illegal to have the orange speedo light facing forward on the dashboard and if stopped again she would get a ticket! Great!

I phoned our citroen garage and they reckon they've never heard of this before.

Not sure whether to contact Citroen, the local police or my the Samaritans?

Anyone else had this happen?

Welcome to the forum.

The C3 Picasso has been out for many years and this is the first time it has been mentioned on here, other than being queried as making it look like a taxi. I think the C4 to 2010 model also lights to the front through the speedo. I would have a word with your Citroen dealer to check the legality and maybe get them to give you something in writing that it is legal in case your daughter is stopped again.

You could also join the Picasso forum and post the same question there http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/picasso/

If you are concerned about the light then you could consider covering it with a bit of card.

I would be tempted to go to the cop shop and ask them to show the documentation that backs up the statement on the illegal light, I see enough vehicles sporting a blue light at the front which I understood was for emergency vehicles only

A unmodified, standard fitment on a vehicle manufactured in the EU and approved to drive in the UK, cannot, by definition, be illegal. Then again, I'm no sure as to what purpose Citroen have this fitted on their C3 Picasso. Just take the fine and fight it. Technically, you can't lose.
