ric_18 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Hi all C2 1.4 petrol 05 Idle is lumpy but fine when driving, thought i would check connectors etc and found one which is broken and i have no idea what it is.looking down at engine in front of injectors rh side next to the head (top right corner near enough) theres a stud sticking up with an eye terminal attached first then on top another eye woth a black connector attached to it????? It has broken of leaving to prongs sticking out i wonder if i can solder the wire direct to it or is the block important. Quote
coastline taxis Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 personely i would just take the car to the nearest dealers and buy a replacement part. sounds like a temp sensor and if your willing to try soldering it then changing it wont be a problem for you Quote
paul.h Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Copied from my reply to your similar post in the C2 section so all the replies are on one place. I have deleted the C2 section topic. Welcome to the forum. If the stud is at the gearbox end then this could be an earth point. We had a 2003 C3 with the same engine and if removing the coil pack to replace spark plugs, the earth wire connected here would turn round as a nut was undone and care had to be taken to prevent the wire breaking off. I eventually changed it by adding a couple of washers or an extra nut (cannot remember which). There was only one wire connected here. If this is the same on your car, then you will need to reconnect the earth wires and it may help the running. You could also check the throttle body and throttle plate are clean and not covered in carbon build up - if fouled up, use some carburetor cleaner or a cloth damp with white spirit/turps. Quote
ric_18 Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Thanks for your reply.Car has just had head recon plus cam belt all under warranty from dealer.it has been lumpy idle since.I have pics but dont know how to put them on.????it idles at 750ish but dips lower then up again and causing a chugging effect, yet when reving and driving it runs fine Quote
ric_18 Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Ad on*Frustrated as it was fine before "cam belt slipped".This small black block like connector sits on the head its self on a threaded stud plus it has broke off completely now as i tried to open it up to find out if it actually does anything or if i could cut the block off and wire direct with eye terminal Quote
paul.h Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 To put pictures on they have to be put on something like photobucket and then a link can be put on this site to it. Possibly the valve clearances need adjusting after the cylinder head was rebuilt3. Valve clearancesN.B. : Adjust when cold. Inlet valves 0,20 ± 0.05 mm Exhaust valves 0,40 ± 0.05 mm Quote
ric_18 Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Well it was sent off to a head specialist so would of hopped they would have checked for minimum clearance.Managed to get a rough idea from google as to what this connector does. The connector has wrote on it FACON 2022 MADE IN FRANCE from google it is a capacitor which reduces or eliminates interference but if not in place can draw power ftom spark plugs etc.Had any experience with this or were i could get one? paul.h Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 If it is an original Citroen part then your dealer should be able to supply one. It might help to look at the Citroen parts diagrams using your car VIN (VIS). You can see these as a free service if you register on the service.citroen site as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club. It may take a bit of time to find it and could be in the electrical section http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres Years ago capacitors were put on if there was interferance on the radio and these were bought from car accessory shops.
